JConcepts B74 carbon fibre & titanium optionals Posted: 02 Oct 2019 11:25 AM PDT Coming from JConcepts and made for the Team Associated B74 buggy are new carbon fibre and titanium optionals. Starting with the carbon fibre parts, new are front and rear shock towers that are of a ribbed and chamfered design. The 4mm thickness, genuine carbon fibre material is durable, lightweight and features the JConcepts milled sections which help maintain strength while minimising weight. The three standard B74 shock positions remain for quick and steady adjustments in the correct position for the front and rear shock geometry. The towers feature the JConcepts treatment of ribbed sections and chamfered edges on the surface of the race-proven material. The towers are complete and designed to accept the stock mounting hardware. On the titanium side of things come lightweight, black coated turnbuckles out of JConcepts’ Fin range of optionals. The base of the design is centred around a .143” titanium hex size which gradually tapers down into a 3mm thread base design which accepts the standard AE ball cup configuration. The focus of the styling surrounds the lengthened adjustment hex area and the “finned” cuts that rotate about the centre. The turnbuckles are produced with left- and right-hand threads with the left being conveniently marked for easy orientation. JConcepts Ellipse 2.2” silver compound buggy tyre Posted: 02 Oct 2019 11:11 AM PDT JConcepts have introduced their popular Ellipse 2.2” buggy rear tyre in silver compound. The Ellipse, named after the centre bar built into the tread, is a compliment to successful tyres such as the Dirt Webs and Space Bars. The centre section of the tyre is a home run utilising a diamond “home plate” footprint to provide massive forward bite and increased longevity. The web of extensions are unique and have a directional touch giving the racer the ultimate tune-ability. The Ellipse has already shown success in the hands of Ryan Maifield taking TQ at the Spring Indoor Nationals in Tacoma, Washington. The compound of choice for most indoor events, the exclusive gold compound, has shown to produce consistent results for racers week after week. In addition, the new silver compound is now available to further tune drivers to clay condition tracks and have already taken huge victory at the ROAR Nationals in the hands of Spencer Rivkin and Ryan Maifield. Included in each package, the Dirt-Tech closed cell inserts known for their durable nature and gray colour complete the race tuned package. Pre-event favourites were Franz Engel and Christoph Rohrmoser who both had chances to take the title but Engel had to win the race to claim the title. At the start of the final Engel was able to take over the lead and managed to increase the gap to one lap over the rest of the field. Mid-race he changed tyres and dropped behind Ciudan who opted to run on a single set of tyres. In the final stages Engel closed the gap step by step, but as the clock was ticking down he had to take a higher risk and made a mistake in the penultimate lap. Ciudan crossed the finishing line in 1st position followed by Rohrmoser and Engel in third. With this result Rohrmoser took the overall title in front of Engel and Kandelhart. Young Shepherd racer Simon Engel finished the final in 6th position which was enough to claim the National Junior title.
