Clement Boda doubles at Happy New Year race

The Charleroi, Belgium based Buggy Club Indoor held their Happy New Year race this past weekend, attracting some of the fastest electric off-road racers of the French and Belgian region. In the 2WD Buggy class Clement Boda made a clean sweep in the qualifiers, taking the overall TQ from Senne Pauwels in 2nd. With wins in A1 and A2 Clement would seal the overall win early and with one leg to spare while Jonas Martens cemented his runner-up spot with a win in A3 as Senne Pauwels had to settle for 3rd overall.

In the 4WD Buggy class it was again Clement with the overall TQ after winning all four qualifying rounds as Malcom Roquet and Senne Pauwels ended tie on points for P2 on the grid. A1 then saw Clement walking away with the win while A2 was a different affair with Senne taking the win while Clement only scored an 8th place finish. With a win in A3 however Clement would seal the bag for his second overall victory as Florent Gallot and Senne Pauwels ended the day in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Anthony Schimizzi wins at FNS Rd3

Round 3 of the Florida Nitro Series was held at Nuggets Ranch Raceway in Arcadia, Florida this past weekend in several nitro on-road classes. In 1/10th 200mm Nitro Sedan it was Dorian Tisdale with the overall TQ, however after the 30-minute A-main event it was Anthony Schimizzi with the win some 0.9 seconds in front of Chris Lefebvre in 2nd. 6th place qualifier, Will Carrera came in 3rd, some eight seconds behind Chris while Jerry Guerra would finish the race on the same lap as the top 3, only 4.5 seconds behind Will. TQ holder Dorian had to settle for 5th overall, a lap down.

Graham Alsop wins at Deerdale Racing Series Rd2

Round 2 of the Deerdale Racing Series 2019/20 was held at the Deerdale RC Offroad astroturf track in the UK this past weekend. Veteran racer, Graham Alsop took the win in the 20-minute Nitro Buggy A-main final from Jack Hirst in 2nd. Freddie Thompson would round out the overall top 3 result.

Speedzone Evolution shorty LiPo battery packs

Speedzone have announced the addition of two new shorty LiPo battery packs to their Evolution brand range, designed for and dedicated to competitive racing. New for 2020 are a 4000mAh 7.4V pack as well as a 6000mAh 3.7V battery both of which are made using high-quality 120C cells. The 2S pack measures 96x47x25mm and weighs in at 210g while the 1S pack measures 93x47x18.5mm while weighing in at 150g. Both utilise 5mm power connectors and they meet ROAR, EFRA, BRCA and IFMAR specifications.

VanDalen & Tebo win at Tekno RC Winter Series

The Tekno RC Winter Series was held at the Hobbyplex indoor off-road track in Ohama, Nebraska, attracting 200 entries. In the premier Expert Nitro Buggy class it was Tekno’s Seth VanDalen with the overall TQ and he would also come out on top in the 30-minute A-main event leading the race from tone to tone, leaving behind Tekno teammate, Jared Tebo in 2nd, a lap down. 5th place qualifier, Collin Weatherholt (Mugen) came in 3rd to round out the podium result.

Over in Expert Electric Buggy the A-main was a pretty wild affair with TQ Jared Tebo dropping down the field at the start of the 10-minute A-main but coming back to battle for the win with Seth VanDalen and Mason Fuller (TLR) in the mix, with the three swapping the lead a couple of times. Ultimately it was Jared with the win some 7.5 seconds in front of Seth as Mason came in 3rd to round out the podium some 0.2 seconds behind Seth.

Marco Baruffolo doubles at One Race One Man event

The IBR Padova indoor dirt track in Carrara San Giorgio, Italy hosted the 2020 One Race One Man event this past weekend, attracting some of Europe’s fastest 1/8th off-road racers to compete in Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. When the dust had settled it was Xray’s Marco Baruffolo with the overall win in Nitro Buggy from privateer and reigning EFRA European Champion, Riccardo Berton, piloting a Kyosho buggy, while Mugen’s former IFMAR World Champion, Robert Batlle came in 3rd to round out the podium. Over in Electric Buggy it was again Marco Baruffolo with the overall win from the Mugen duo of Berkan and Burak Kilic.

Yugo Nagashima signs with Dash RC

Dash have announced the signing of Japanese on-road frontrunner, Yugo Nagashima to their factory team. Yugo comes fresh from a commanding weekend at round 5 and 6 of the OneTen series and he will be using Dash RC‘s line of brushless motors, speed controllers and accessories at all major national and international events from now on. The Serpent factory driver has the following to say about the deal:

After using many different brands of electronics over the years, I really like what Dash has to offer. The powerband and reliability is second to none. It suits my driving style and has good speed to compete against the best drivers. The stylish black and gold design looks trendy and I hope to take advantage of this opportunity.

2020 Malaysia National League Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the 2020 Malaysia National League was held at the URCC offroad track in Putrajaya this past weekend. In the premier Pro Nitro Buggy class it was Kyosho driver Danny K with the overall TQ, however after the 45-minute A-main event it was young Jade Lim (Team Associated) with the overall win a lap in front of Danny K. Another four laps down it was Muhaimin Omar (Kyosho) who would round out the overall top 3.

The Semi Pro Nitro Buggy class saw Kayden Foo taking the overall TQ and also the win a lap in front of Farhan Nan while Shane Huzairie came in 3rd, about half a minute behind Farhan.

The Amateur Nitro Buggy category was TQ’d and won by Ali Ahmad who ended the 45-minute A-main event an ultra narrow 0.05s in front of Zulhazli Sham. Ahmad Syukri came in 3rd a lap down.

Over in Pro Electric Buggy Faris Faisal ended the qualifiers on the overall TQ spot, however Mubashir Mazhar Iqbal snatched the overall win from Faris in 2nd and Adli Zakaria in 3rd.

Lastly in the Amateur Electric Buggy class Zulfikri Sarman took the win from Lan in 2nd and Ahmad Syukri in 3rd.
