Mon-Tech Racing RS GT3 1/10th GT body shell Posted: 29 May 2020 09:00 AM PDT Following a couple of teaser images, Mon-Tech Racing have fully unveiled their all-new RS GT3 1/10th scale GT body shell. The 190mm USGT body was developed using the latest 3-D-modelling techniques in order achieve a new level of detailedness, with the body featuring an aggressive front splitter, a low hood section and a balanced rear wing design, providing a perfect blend of high downforce and very low drag. The body is moulded in-house at Mon-Tech Racing in Italy, using high-quality polycarbonate material for exceptional durability. The design of the body allows for lots of tyre clearance even when using bigger tyres while ensuring the lid can be placed forth or back to fine-tune overall balance. The included wing features two trim lines, a USGT-legal 10mm line and an outlaw 20mm line, the latter generating even more downforce. The body comes clear, including window masks, a lights decal sheet as well as wing mounting hardware and in a reusable and resealable, Mon-Tech-branded bag. In addition Mon-Tech Racing will offer decal kits to create design replicas for even cooler looks. JConcepts Ellipse 1/8th buggy silver compound tyre Posted: 29 May 2020 08:07 AM PDT JConcepts have introduced their Ellipse 1/8th buggy tyre in silver compound. The Ellipse, named after the centre bar built into the tread, is a compliment to successful tyres such as the Dirt Webs and Bar Codes. The “web”-style tyre was built to compete on smooth high-grip indoor and outdoor surfaces which require a finely detailed connected bar pattern. The centre section of the tyre is a home run utilising a diamond “home plate” footprint to provide massive forward bite and increased longevity. The web of extensions are unique and have a directional touch giving the racer the ultimate tune-ability. The Dirt Webs have been an industry leader for indoor performance and often chosen as a control tyre for performance, reliability and consistency. The compound of choice for most indoor events, the exclusive gold and silver compound, has shown to produce consistent results for racers week after week. Included in each package, the Dirt-Tech closed cell inserts known for their durable nature and grey colour complete the race tuned package. Xray GTX8 2021 1/8th nitro GT kit Posted: 29 May 2020 04:43 AM PDT Xray have introduced their new GTX8 1/8th scale nitro GT kit. The 2021 variant of the IFMAR vice-World-Championship and EFRA vice-European-Championship winning car builds on a redesigned and reinforced aluminium chassis whose rear section was reinforced for less on-power flex, which increases the stability of the car and ensures improved on-power control. The new chassis was also redesigned to fit both the soft and hard composite radio boxes without modification. The chassis is CNC-machined from 3mm high-quality Swiss 7075 T6 aluminium, strategically machined in low-stress areas, and then anodised to make it as light as possible without affecting strength or rigidity. Up front the suspension‘s C-hub concept was redesigned and refined especially for the GT on-road platform. The GT C-hub suspension improves steering characteristics on and off-power and helps to reduce tyre wear. The caster is now easily adjustable by changing bushings in the suspension arm. The C-hub suspension features C-hubs with pre-set 16 degree caster as a good starting point for every track. To accommodate the new suspension geometry, the kit includes +2mm off-set both front and rear. Ultra-lightweight 17mm wheel hex drive hubs are CNC-machined from Swiss 7075 T6 black-coated aluminium. The alloy hex hubs are specially machined to reduce rotating weight while guaranteeing wobble-free wheel mounting. To accommodate the new GT C-hub suspension, also the front shock tower was redesigned. Machined from extra-thick premium-grade graphite, both shock towers are light of weight and very strong. The front and rear shock towers include multiple shock positions as well as multiple roll centre positions. The front and rear shock shafts are now 3mm longer for increased set-up possibilities and to allow more suspension travel. The shock caps feature four bleed holes for easier building and more precise rebound control. Multiple shock membrane choices are available to tune the suspension to a wide variety of track conditions. Oversized big-bore shocks featuring 16.2mm inner diameter shock bodies are externally threaded with an adjustable collar for quick and easy spring preload adjustment. The shock bodies are hard-coated in a titanium colour and feature a 1-piece aluminium shock cap. To improve drivetrain efficiency, the 13T pinion gears are now included for both front and rear bulkheads. Thanks to the higher 3.54:1 internal ratio, the vehicle’s acceleration has also been improved. The all-new aluminium carrier for the 2-speed gearbox is made from a softer material for improved shifting consistency. The design of the carrier features new outer ribs for more efficient cooling. The carrier is machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminium. To improve the braking efficiency and to ensure constant braking characteristics, the ultra-efficient pre-glued brake pads are now included in the kit. The laser-cut, precision ground steel brake disk allows for fading-free braking in conjunction with the special high-grip brake pads installed on laser-cut steel backing plates. The brake disks are small, slim, and very lightweight. The precision hand-grinding allows true, wobble-free rotation. Brake inputs are transferred precisely to the brakes thanks to the rigid, high-precision machined brake cams. Brake disk and brake pad backing plates are specially heat-treated for maximum lifespan. The GTX8 now includes the hard composite radio box. The hard material is more rigid at higher temperatures to improve the precision of the servo movement and has more room for the receiver battery pack. The optional soft composite radio box increases chassis flex. This can help improve handling characteristics in low to medium-traction conditions. The 1-piece electronics assembly is very compact and can be quickly and easily removed for servicing and cleaning. It requires removing only a few screws from the bottom of the chassis to remove the entire electronics assembly from the car. The GTX’s 150cc extra-large fuel tank was redesigned to comply with the new rules featuring the transient jet that ensures the internal volume of the fuel tank cannot be changed by adjusting the fuel line. To comply with different race regulations, the design of the GTX8 chassis and fuel tanks allows the installation of either the included 150cc fuel tank or optional 125cc fuel tank. The extra-strong fuel tank features an integrated floating stone filter that ensures that the fuel pickup will always be in the correct orientation, even if the car isn’t. Internal baffles inside the fuel tank ensure that the fuel will always be in the area around the fuel line intake so even during large jumps the fuel will be constantly supplied to the engine.
