Joel Valander takes Finnish 1/10th 4WD off-road title Posted: 20 Jul 2016 07:18 AM PDT The third round of the Finnish National 1/10th Off-road Championship was held at the Oulu dirt track. Rain made for a lot of delays but ultimately the drivers would be able to race on Saturday evening and all of Sunday. In the 2WD class, Karri Salmela got the TQ in damp and difficult conditions followed by Ari-Pekka Kyykkä and Joel Valander. Karri also won first two finals with Joel Valander taking the runner-up spot from Eeli Vieno. 2WD final results: The 4WD class TQ position was taken by Karri Salmela, followed by Joel Valander and Eeli Vieno. In A1 Eeli Vieno took a surprise win from third on the grid. In A2 the top three were almost covered by one second for the whole race, but Joel did an amazing last lap move to pass Karri and to cross the line on the first spot. A3 was as close as a battle as A2, and it was also decided on the last lap as Karri made a small pipe touch and Joel was able to overtake and cruise to the win. With the win, Joel secured himself the national title as he came out on top in all three rounds. The 2WD championship is still open between Joel Valander, Karri Salmela and Joona Haatanen with the final round taking place in Vantaa in mid-August. 4WD final results: Source: Xray [teamxray.com] FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |
Revolution Design Racing Products Ultra Shock Stand TC Posted: 20 Jul 2016 06:26 AM PDT Revolution Design Racing Products is busy adding more accessories to their already impressive line up with the Ultra Shock Stand TC being their latest offering. The handy tool keeps things sorted during building, rebuilding and setup of 1/10th touring car shock absorbers. Machined from aircraft-grade 7075-T6 aluminium the stand is usable with both standard and big bore shocks and it keeps them in a perfectly upright position, allowing to easily and conveniently fill the dampers with shock fluid and they are also perfectly stored away when waiting for those nasty air bubbles to disappear. On top of this, small compartments under each shock hold small parts such as volume compensators and the like. Laser-etched markings help with shock identification to avoid any mix-ups and the stand comes in the five different colours of light blue, dark blue, black, orange and red. Cragg & Moss win at BRCA 1/10 Off-road Nationals Rd4 Posted: 20 Jul 2016 02:39 AM PDT Round four of the BRCA 1/10th Off-road National Championship was held at the Telford astro turf track last weekend. As usual the 2WD class opened the weekend with Saturday morning’s qualifying saw an early battle between Neil Cragg and Tom Yardy. Tom would TQ round 1 while Neil Cragg and Simon Moss set identical times in Q2. Q3 then had Neil coming out fastest while Tom Yardy stroke back in Q4. As both Neil and Tom scored two round TQs each the faster time would decide and ultimately it was Neil who snatched the pole position for the triple A-mains by 0.28s. Tom would line up in second from Simon Moss, Danny McGee and Lee Martin. A noticeable mention goes to Tristram Neil who made his first ever national A-main on the 8 spot.
2WD final results: On Sunday the 4WD event was held in dry yet windy weather conditions. Simon Moss again was at it. He opened up his account with a big fat zero in round one. Neil Cragg was a very close second, Tom Yardy third. Round 2 came and again Simon Moss was stamping his authority on this 4WD event by taking 3 seconds off his previous fastest time. Tom Yardy comes through to take second in the round with Neil in third. Into round 3 and things were getting interesting because it was Neil that took the round TQ but didn’t beat Simon’s round 2 time. Lee Martin came through to second in the round, Tom Yardy third. In Q4 Simon was going first out of the potential overall TQ contenders and went even faster than his own fastest time. It was Lee Martin that got second in the round with Tom Yardy third, Danny McGee fourth and Craig Collinson fifth. In the opening A-main, Simon Moss from pole drove a perfect race to take a comfortable win by 4 seconds from his team mate Lee Martin. Neil Cragg in third with Tom Yardy fourth and Craig Collinson fifth completed the top 5. In leg 2 pole man Simon made an error. Neil took the lead and never looked back, taking the win in A2 from Tom Yardy in second, Danny McGee third with Simon fourth and Kev Lee fifth. Before leg 3 nothing was decided yet. In fact it could have been a multitude of drivers that could take the overall win. Simon Moss though started with some intent as did Neil Cragg. These two drivers were head to head most if not all weekend and it surely would be one of these two that would win the event. Fast laps after fast laps smashing the previous best was proof they were pushing to the absolute limits. A great race that was also error free from both drivers but it was Simon Moss that would come home to take the win with the fastest time of the day too. Neil would have to settle for second while Tom Yardy would come home in 3rd. 4WD final results: Source: BRCA [brca10thoffroad.co.uk] FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |

Posted: 20 Jul 2016 12:22 AM PDT Last weekend, the third round of the Serpent GT Cup was held at Hong Kong’s TRC race track. Due to the growing popularity of the event, the organisers had no choice but to use 15-car groups for the six heats in order to make sure the 1-day event could follow a sensible time schedule. Again the Cobra GP RTR class was the most popular with four heats with the Open class attracting a total of 30 drivers – again more compared to the previous round.
In the RTR class, Siu Ming once again came out on top with Philip Leung taking the runner-up spot from veteran Lam Wai Man who grabbed a popular third place. TQ holders Jason Choi could not convert his form from the qualifiers and will miss out the podium this time round. The next round of the Serpent Cobra GT Cup will be held on the 28th of August.
