Myron Kinnard wins at Thunder Jam XI Posted: 30 Jan 2017 09:02 AM PST The Thunder Jam Snowbirds Warm-up was back again to kick off 2017 with its ninth running hosted by Thunder RC Raceway in Nashville, Tennessee. The event has brought in racers to compete for trophies, cash, and the glory. For an event that was created for kids to have their own special race, it has grown over the years to give racers of all ages a chance to win an event. For Saturday, the event would have three qualifiers and AA mains. This is a format that has been used for years and works very well to maximise the time so travellers can get home at comfortable times. Myron Kinnard (Team Associated) was able to lay in a TQ run in the first round of USVTA and he reset that TQ again as the day went on.
Also for some of the most exciting racing of the event, the Jr. VTA class took to the track and absolutely electrified the crowd and racers in attendance. They all exhibited great patience and driver etiquette beyond their years. But it was Orlando Boullard who set an early TQ and held tight in the main to secure his first big race win. Also not to be outdone was young Mya Kinnard, still mixing it up after a great showing at the past Nationals, who laid in from a fifth-place start on the grid to challenge for the lead in the mains. After a few mistakes she had some of the best battles and finished to a standing ovation in a solid fourth. Source: Team Associated [teamassociated.com] FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |

JConcepts YZ-2 F2 buggy bodyshell Posted: 30 Jan 2017 07:36 AM PST JConcepts’s new F2 bodyshell is soon also available to fit Yokomo’s YZ-2 line of 2WD buggies. The body is a drop fit for the popular Yokomo YZ-2 CA and DT with cut-lines are included on each side of the body to accommodate stand-up and lay-down transmission layouts. Featuring an increased windshield angle a steady force is provided upfront during mid-flight wind gusts on large jumps while the forward cab placement changes the performance/visible bias which helps steering rotation in low traction corners. The side-pods have been simplified and JC-chamfered to remove unwanted changes in height to neutralise the at-speed handling. The front of the pods have a dual step, scoop treatment which give a first in class look to the F2 body. The rear of the cab has the Finnisher step feature which allows the placement of a secondary side window and also several louver options off the rear which can be trimmed to allow air to escape at the top of the body. The body comes clear, including window masks, decal sheet and two Aero rear wings. Source: JConcepts [jconcepts.net] FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |

Schumacher Mi6Evo 1/10th touring car kit Posted: 30 Jan 2017 07:03 AM PST Coming from Schumacher is the Mi6Evo electric touring car kit. The car utilises the latest developments from Schumacher’s international racing and engineering team such as a modified chassis plate with increased cut outs around the suspension mounts for more traction. The shorter span, reduced footprint motor mount gives increased rear chassis flex and rear traction and it allows to brace the rear top deck without connecting it to motor mount for different stiffness tuning. On top of this the motor position moved 3mm inboard to reduce roll while centre line belts make for perfect balance. Other features include a lightweight 5-spoke spool, a lightweight centre pulley, carbon fibre reinforced nylon wishbones reduce weight and increase flexibility and an optional larger spur makes for a more forward motor positioning in modified racing. The kit will hit stores in March. Source: Schumacher [racing-cars.com] FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |
