Xray Racing Series Alpe Adria Rd2 – Report Posted: 10 May 2017 03:58 AM PDT Round 2 of the Xray Racing Series Alpe Adria was held at the Mini Autodrom Ayrton Senna in Zagreb, Croatia. Drivers from six different countries including Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Germany, Italy and Slovenia attended the event, giving it some international flair. The weekend started off with nice weather and pleasing temperatures on Saturday although mixed weather and cooler conditions were on the forecast for Sunday and because of the chance of rain the first qualifiers were held on Saturday evening. The overnight TQ in the Touring Stock class went to Arno Webernig from Patrik Požgaj and Thomas Thaler while in In 1/10 Nitro Touring it was Stefano Chiarandini on TQ in front of Gabor Laszlo and Fabio Callegari. 1/8th GT saw last year’s European vice-champion, Fabio Callegari holding the overnight TQ from Tomislav Benč and Denis Mlivič while in the premier class of 1/8th nitro on-road it was Jernej Vuga Štendler on TQ with a new track record from Herfried Pucher and Luka Bušac. Sunday started off with a wet track due to overnight rain, so the schedule was revised with a later start of the final qualifiers. The colder temperatures also made for a lack of grip and so Saturday’s times were set and with it the overall results. To get at least a bit of grip back it was decided to spray the track during the lunch break which turned out the be the right decision. In the Touring Stock class TQ holder Arno Webernig would also come out fastest after the mains, taking the win in front of Patrik Požgaj and 3rd placed Alojzij Osvald. Touring Stock final results: In the Nitro Touring category pole sitter Stefano Chiarandini had problems which put him way down the order and so the win went to Gabor Laszlo some six seconds ahead of Fabio Callegari and Lovro Šušteršič. Nitro Tourign final results: The 1/8 GT nitro class was dominated by Fabio Callegari. He controlled the race and took the win with a large margin over Sanjin Svetličič and Tomislav Benč. 1/8th Nitro GT final results: The 1/8th on-road class was very interesting to watch as TQ Jernej, Herfried Pucher and Nejc Mihelič – who had a lot of bad luck in the qualifiers – had a similar pace. Jernej took off well and was starting to pull some gap over Herfried when on the straight a backmarker hit him and this ended his race after being so convincing during the whole weekend. Herfried than took the lead and in the middle of the race Nejc grabbed the lead and never looked back to bring home the win while Herfried ran into issues. 1/8th on-road final results: Source: Xray [teamxray.com] FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |
