2017/18 Rug Racers series Rd1 – Report Posted: 31 Oct 2017 06:10 AM PDT The opening round of the 2017/18 Rug Racers series was held this past weekend at Wodson Park in Ware, Hertfordshire. In the premier Touring Modified class it was Paul Pinkney and his Schumacher taking the win from Yokomo’s Harley Eldridge. It was Harley who locked down the pole position with FTQ, but a mistake in leg 1 moved her down to 3rd and Paul was able to capitalise. In 3rd Aaron Rose and his Schumacher completed the podium. At the 1st round of the series Zak Finlay got himself off to an excellent start taking FTQ in the highly competitive 13.5 Blinky category. Both legs of the final would also go to the Xray pole sitter leading from lights to flag with a totally dominant display, Jimmy Maddison of Awesomatix made up some ground from 4th on the grid to take 2nd overall with Tony Broad and his Xray rounding out the top 3 after slipping down from 2nd on the grid. In GT12 young Owen Smith and his Mardave took the win in both legs from 2nd on the grid with Chris Wilkinson and his Mardave having to settle for 2nd behind the young man, Nick Upton with the Zen taking 3rd overall up from 7th on the Grid. Tamiya Trucks the new fun class this year and it saw much humour and many laughs in the 24-car finals, a great spectacle for those watching but not likely to be repeated at future rounds as a more traditional format is likely to be adopted. The race was great fun though and as shown the best or luckiest make it to the top with Andrew Carter surviving to be the 1st to cross the line. Source: The RC Racer [thercracer.com] |

Schelle introduce new B64 & TLR 22 option parts Posted: 31 Oct 2017 01:00 AM PDT Schelle Racing Innovations have introduced a bunch of option and maintenance parts for the Team Associated B64 and TLR 22 series of 1/10th electric off-road buggies. First up is a front top deck for the B64. Cut from carbon fibre the part was designed to replace the standard composite brace and the new flex characteristics make the front end more predictable and consistent. According to Schelle, in testing, drivers were able to do more fast laps and less crashes. The 2.5mm carbon top deck fits both the B64 and B64D and it comes including a set of stainless steel mounting screws. Also new and made for the B64 series of buggies are the Type 3 steering arms. A slight tweak on the geometry of Schelle’s Type 1 blocks, they were made to gain more stability on tracks with larger sweeping turns. The Type 3 mimic the shorter leverage and quick reaction of Type 1, but with a more mellow Ackermann that is suited for flowing tracks when drivers need less steering and to stay smooth. The holes are a replica location of adapting the B6 steering arms onto a B64, while still keeping the kit steering stops. For TLR owners, Schelle have Pro-Built refresh and rebuild differential kits. The rebuild kit comes complete with the same parts and precision grade 3/32″ tungsten carbide diff balls, ceramic caged thrust, rings, spring and T-nut as used on the Pro-Built MIP Bi-Metal TLR complete diffs. MIP TLR 22 4.0 Pucks 17.5 Drive System Posted: 31 Oct 2017 12:41 AM PDT MIP have introduced the Pucks 17.5 Drive System for the TLR 22 4.0 buggy. It features an aluminium based drivetrain system which includes a 2-piece aluminium outdrive cup and aluminium outdrive hub, two Bi-metal bones, and the replaceable plastic orange wear Pucks that take the place of the inferior steel pins. This combination greatly increases the longevity of the drive train and most importantly decreases the drivetrain’s overall rotating mass by 50 percent. The decrease in weight directly results in quicker acceleration, deceleration, and lower motor temperatures. The set includes all needed parts including the ball differential but except the diff gear and wheel axles. The kit is available for pre-order now and will be produced if 125 pre-orders are received by MIP until November 20th. Source: MIP [miponline.com] |
