Xray RX8 2018 1/8th nitro on-road kit Posted: 09 Feb 2018 03:46 AM PST Xray have introduced the latest incarnation of their RX8 1/8th nitro on-road platform, the RX8 2018. Changes to the front, but mostly to the rear end allow for a better adaption to various track conditions, from low to very high grip, as well as to soft or hard, small or large tyres – something that is crucial in today’s control/hand-out tyre racing. To start, the car makes use of an all-new aluminium main chassis plate with the front part sporting a new, larger opening for improved flexibility while an alloy – or optional brass brace – allows to reduce the front flex when needed. Using the brace will lead to increased steering response and corner speed while leaving the brace away makes the car easier to drive. Also new is a balast weight feature on both sides of the chassis for quick and easy weight distribution adjustment. The optional weights can be shifted forth and back to fine-tune the weight balance according to the track conditions or to add overall weight while in addition existing chassis cut-outs take optional brass plates to up the weight even further. Most of the changes on the 2018 kit have taken place in the rear compartment with the all-new rear layshaft bulkheads allow the use of bracket bushings to connect the layshaft bulkheads with rear bulkheads to reinforce the entire rear section, improved handling especially in high-traction conditions. Without the bracket bushings, the car has more traction; recommended for low-traction conditions. The new bulkhead design also allows the installation of a top graphite brace. Part of the company’s iconic Multi-Flex technology is a new carbon fibre brace for the rear layshaft that reinforces the bulkhead section as it can be useful in high-grip track conditions. All-new graphite holders for the rear upper arm incorporate new positions – lower and more inside – for increased traction and improved durability. Also part of the 2018 kit are redesigned rear aluminium suspension holders that have a new position for the rear arms, more inside, for increased traction. The kit is rounded out by all-new steel extensions for the suspension arms that use a new position to work better with new rear aluminium suspension holders. The 2018 car will hit stores very shortly. New features: The full presentation can be found here. Source: Xray [teamxray.com] |

RC Kongen Winter Cup Rd5 – Report Posted: 09 Feb 2018 12:11 AM PST The fifth round of the Danish RC Kongen Winter Cup was held last weekend. In the 2WD Buggy class it was Pelle Culmsee, Marcus Kaerup and his dad Jonas Kaerup who were battling for the top spots. In Q1 it was Pelle who came out fastest, as he would TQ in front of Marcus while Jonas made some mistakes. In Q2 it was Marcus with the TQ, after Pelle landed bad from a jump and broke a rear arm. In Q3 it was Jonas who was fastest with a 2 seconds margin from Pelle, however it was Pelle who would get the overall TQ after having a faster round than Marcus. In the finals there was a lot of close racing. In the opening leg Pelle made a mistake 2 minutes into the race and Marcus would overtake him, but Pelle and Jonas were faster than Marcus and he couldn’t pull away and after some close fighting with Pelle and Jonas, Marcus would take the win. It was a different story in A2 as Pelle stayed in the lead, with Marcus right behind him. The latter would make some mistakes and Pelle would take a tone to tone win. Same story in the last A-main but Marcus did to many mistakes and Jonas could get by to take overall second. This gave the overall top 3 of Pelle, Jonas and Marcus. In the 4WD portion of the race, it were again Marcus and Pelle who batteled it out, But this time Christoffer Henriksen was in the mix too. In qualifying it was again Pelle who could TQ round 1 after everyone did some mistakes. In Round 2 it was again Pelle with the fastest time and a 5 seconds margin to Christoffer and Marcus in third. In Q3 Pelle didn’t run to safe tyres for the final, and it was Christoffer who could take the TQ to line up in 2nd as Marcus broke a rear axle. In the opening final, Pelle again did some mistakes as the top 3 had a great fight. So Marcus could win in front of Pelle and Christoffer in 3rd. In A2 Pelle got a great start, he didn’t made any mistakes and could take a tone to tone win, as both Christoffer and Marcus did some small mistakes, but close to the end Marcus was chasing Pelle. A3 saw the same story as Pelle and Marcus had a great fight, but some small bobbles of the others allowed Pelle to take the overall win from Marcus Kaerup and Christoffer Henriksen. Thanks to Pelle Culmsee for the report. |
