Caleb Stevens wins Extreme R/C club race Posted: 27 Feb 2018 07:51 AM PST Extreme R/C Raceway of Spring Hill, Tennessee recently held a club race in preparation of the forthcoming Extreme Carpet Initiative race in two weeks time. Caleb Stevens was in control of things in the 2WD Modified and 4WD Modified classes as he took the TQs and wins for a clean sweep. Christopher Small and Scott Anderson would end the 2WD Mod race in 2nd and 3rd respectively while Scott Anderson and Steven Hicox made up the top 3 in 4WD Mod Buggy. Images: Caleb Stevens |
Xray Racing Series Slovenia Rd4 – Report Posted: 27 Feb 2018 06:10 AM PST The recent fourth round of the Xray Racing Series Slovenia was held at the Genius Ring in Medeuzza, Italy. Since this was the final round of the series drivers made full use of Saturday’s practice in order to fine-tune their cars for Sunday’s race. The Touring Stock class saw some great battles between B.A. and Andrea as they touched a couple of times in the opening A-main and B.A. had to wait for Andrea which promoted Edoardo into the lead. In the second leg B.A. managed to somehow overtake Andrea to take the win and shift the decision for the overall win into the final A-main. Andrea was leading A3 in the opening stages but he suffered a technical issue with a motor connector coming loose, allowing B.A. to take the overall from Edoardo 2nd and Andrea 3rd. Touring Stock final results: In the Formula class Alojzij Osvald snatched the day’s win from Matevž Furlan and Joshua Milanese in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Formula final results: Finally in the Pan Car class it was Valentin Mis with the win from Goran Vignjevič and Jernej Vuga. Source: Xray [teamxray.com] |

Starting with the Looper tread that was first seen on the buggy variant. The tyre will make for swift steering response on a variety of surfaces and track conditions thanks to centre square pins. The tread will excel on both clean and loose tracks while offering exceptional durability. Also new is the Magic Square tyre that is meant to offer good forward traction and response. The tyre is usable in a range of track conditions from dusty to loose and even in the wet as the lightweight rubber provides tons of steering. Robson White wins at Winter Series Rd4 Posted: 27 Feb 2018 05:26 AM PST Round 4 of the Winter Series was held at NDOR in Nottingham recently. The track is a full blown astro turf with big jumps, fast flowing rhythm sections and the added bonus of the new section with the drop off, which was added for last year’s national meeting. Robson White was off to a good start and managed to take TQ in round one and he also managed to TQ the final rounds, putting a strong 11 lapper in round 3 to show a dominant performance. The temperature was dropping even more as the finals approached but Robson decided to keep all the car settings and oils the same for the final. The start of the A-final would be clean which allowed Robson to get a way and start to pull a slight lead, the first few laps were a bit hectic as the drivers tried to get a good position, but Robson managed to get into the grove pretty quick and start to increase his lead over the chasing pack. There were a few issues with back markers throughout the 20-minute final but all in all it was great clean race. Robson chose to do two fuel stops as he was still running a new engine in, this did not impact the race as he went on to take the A-final win. Joining the young man in the A final, also with their RC8B3.1’s were Julian Jessop and Michael Isaacs. Both drivers also made the podium, making it a Team Associated podium lockout. Xray Racing Series Greece Rd2 – Report Posted: 27 Feb 2018 05:04 AM PST Round 2 of the Xray Racing Series Greece was held recently at the Fanatix Racing Track and in Touring Modified it was Papachristos who took the pole position with some swift lap times. In leg 1 of the A-mains Papachristos took the win by just two tenths over Ioannidis. In leg 2 he won again with a 5 second gap over Nikolakopoulos while Ioannidis suffered from worn belt and a DNF. Finally in leg 3, Ioannidis passed Papachristos after a mistake the latter made and he lapped everybody finishing 1st in the last leg for the overall runner-up spot with Nikolakopoulos finishing 3rd, securing P3 overall. Touring Modified top 5 results: In the Touring Stock category it was Ioannidis who set the pace from early on. In qualifying he shattered his own track record by six tenths thus taking the pole position. In leg 1 and leg 2 Ioannidis set the pace and won both legs. Meanwhile, there was a battle between Papadopoulos and Konstatopoulos in all the legs with Papadopoulos finally taking P2 and Konstatopoulos P3 overall. Touring Stock top 5 results: In the Pan Car category there was a nice fight between Papachristos and Nikolakopoulos, with the latter taking pole position. In leg 1 and after a tough race between them, Papachristos took the win with Nikolakopoulos having a problem and not finishing. In the remaining legs there were good fights between them and finally Nikolakopoulos finishished P1 overall, with Papachristos behind him and Kazoglou completing the podium. Pan Car top 5 results: Nitro Stock was a one man show. Young gun Theodoropoulos took the pole position and was fast and consistent clearing the race. Gomes & Ribeiro win at Portuguese Off-road Cup Posted: 27 Feb 2018 04:18 AM PST The Portuguese 1/10th Off-road Cup was held recently at the Indoor RC Oeste track near Lisbon and in the 2WD Buggy class it was young Pedro Gomes (Xray) with the TQ and win, wrapping up his first major title. Joao Figueiredo (Kyosho) came in 2nd after some good fights with Pedro while Rui Rodrigues (Team Associated) rounded out the top 3 podium result. In the 4WD class it was Nuno Casal Ribeiro (Team Associated) with the TQ and win from Pedro Gomes (Xray) 2nd and Hugo Miguel (Team Durango) 3rd. Source: Xray [teamxray.com] |
SARDA on-road championship Rd1 – Report Posted: 27 Feb 2018 03:33 AM PST The opening round of the 2018 South-African ORE national championship was hosted by the TRAP RC Venue in Pretoria. There is great excitement within the South African RC family with the 2018 IFMAR Worlds being hosted in Welkom later in the year. There were two practice and a pre-nationals events hosted before the nationals and all the top drivers were practising hard to fine tune the setups in hot weather conditions with the track reaching temperatures of up to 67 degrees and offering a very fast layout. In Touring Modified the qualification was a tight affair with Hein Kotze winning Q1, Jacques Liebenberg winning Q2 and Conrad Liebenberg winning Q3. Ultimately it was Hein Kotze who managed to win Q4 to secure the overall TQ. The racing in the A-finals was great with cars achieving speeds of up to 118km/h down the straight. Hein Kotze went on to win A1 and A2 to secure the victory. It was Jacques Liebenberg who eventually achieved 2nd place with Antonio Caroli completing the podium. Modified Touring final results: The Pro-Stock 13.5T blinky class had a good turn-out and there was some competitive racing between newcomer Jan Venter, Kevin Hattingh, Jean Wessels, Emile Moerman and Gunther Cornelius. It was Gunther Cornelius who managed to secure TQ with Jan Venter starting in 2nd on the grid and Jean Wessels from 3rd. Later Gunther managed good consistent runs in A1 and A2 to secure the overall win. Jan Venter managed to hold on to his 2nd place with the youngster Kevin Hattingh achieving a nice 3rd place on the podium. Pro-Stock 13.5T final results: The 21.5T Formula class had challenging grip conditions with the high track temperatures, but the drivers managed to get their cars to work great and improved throughout the two racing days. Pedro de Gouveia continued his dominant form from last season by easily securing TQ and also winning A1 and A2 to secure the overall victory. He was followed by Brett Ross who had great battle with Jannie Hattingh and Pieter Swemmer. Jannie eventually managed to complete the podium in 3rd place. Updated Tycoon Speed & Race fuel blends Posted: 27 Feb 2018 03:17 AM PST RMV have introduced updated Tycoon off-road and on-road fuel blends for the 2018 season. The off-road fuels base on the proven Pro 25 percent nitro blend but new Race variant uses an increased amount of oil with the Pro blend containing 9 percent oil while the Race variant uses 11 percent, as it was requested by many off-road racers. Also new is the 16 percent nitro/11 percent oil Speed blend for on-road racing. Xray XB8 series soft composite chassis sideguards Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:55 AM PST Xray have introduced new soft composite chassis sideguards for all XB8 series vehicles such as the XB8 buggies, XT8 trucks and GTX8 on-road cars. The side pods, moulded from a softer-than-stock composite material sport a larger bottom radius to make the car more stable on rough tracks while increasing the car’s longitudinal flex for improved traction on low-grip surfaces.
