Exotek Exo-Six alloy gearbox & CF shock towers Posted: 28 Feb 2018 01:00 AM PST Exotek have introduced new option part for the Exo-Six conversion kit in the form of an aluminium gearbox set, carbon fibre shock towers and a 48 pitch main gear. Starting with the gearbox, the bulkhead is machined from 7075 alloy and provides a solid tweak-free design that is about 8g lighter than each of the stock plastic gear boxes for a substantially lower centre of gravity and thus improved chassis roll. New camber mounting points are more inboard for smoother handling when running longer camber link lengths and more robust to resist breakages as in the stock plastic mounts. Additional features include new centre hold sway bar guide for less weight and easier alignment and raised 2mm top plate mounts allow for easier access to the motor screws and battery plugs. Last but not least do precise bearing guides make for a much more free drive train versus stock. Made for the use exclusively with the alloy gearbox are USA-made 3mm carbon fibre front and rear towers. Two mounting positions allow the use of standard TRF short or option super short dampers. Also new for the Exo-Six, Tamiya Evo7 and similar cars is a 48 pitch 58T heavy duty spur gear. Th machined, lightened delrin gear offers the perfect site for 21.5T and 17.5T spec gearing ratios. Orlowski does the double at EOS Slovakia Posted: 25 Feb 2018 07:24 AM PST Michal Orlowski completed the double at the Euro Offroad Series in Slovakia, the Schumacher driver backing up his 2WD victory on Saturday with the 4WD win on Sunday. The half way stage of the championship, the result means the Polish driver leaves Trencin leading the standings in both 2WD and 4WD. Three drivers went into A3 in contention for the win but it was Orlowski who took control of the race early getting by Top Qualifier Martin Bayer on the second lap when the Xray driver again had a bobble. Chased by Bayer, Orlowski looked to throw away the win when in the dying moments he put his car on its roof briefly allowing Bayer to go to the front only for him to replicate Orlowski’s mistake at the very next jump and give back the position. Unfortunately for Bayer the mistake also cost him a podium, his time for the second place slower than that of Joern Neumann in A2 meaning the German got the final step on the podium on the tie break. In between the two Schumachers, Lee Martin would claim second overall by completing the Top 3 in the closing race of the weekend. His second time to complete an EOS double, the first of which he achieved two years ago at his home race in Warsaw, Orlowski said, ‘I knew before the race I couldn’t let Lee win. Once I passed Bayer I didn’t push too much, I just had to finish ahead of Lee. I also knew if I could keep Bayer behind it would help Joern make the podium but then I made a stupid mistake. I was not concentrating enough, I was thinking too much about the finish, but I got lucky and it didn’t change anything for me. I’m really happy we got two cars on the podium’. Asked about claiming the double at the home track of Xray, the 17-year-old replied, ‘It’s not the first time to do the double so it doesn’t feel that special. I see it more as two wins and good points for the championship and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season’. Recapping his A3 performance, Lee Martin said, ‘It was pretty good although I didn’t drive fantastic. My car was a little edgy on throttle and the diff felt strange but overall it was much better than when we started out the weekend’. With today’s second place moving the Yokomo driver up to second in the standings he continued, ‘We should be alright the next round. We will be starting from a much better point. Before then though I need to go home and test diffs and also test what to do with the front tyres. I don’t think we have that figured out yet’. Claiming his first podium finish in a long time, former Multiple champion Neumann wasn’t quite in the mood to celebrate the result. He said, ‘It sucks when (Daniel) Kobbevik does the double double and takes me out when you are not allowed to do (the double) there’. The German continued, ‘my car was really fast, I think I set the fastest lap of the weekend, but because of this I can’t show it’. He continued, ‘Of course I am happy with 3rd but directly after the race I’m frustrated, maybe it could have been 2nd instead of 3rd’. Asked does he feel he has now found his way within the Schumacher team, which he only joined last month, he replied, ‘I’m looking forward to the next race. Now I’m very comfortable with the car and the set-up is good. I’m sure we will fight for the podium again at the next round.’ ‘A disappointing ending for me’, was how Bayer summed up his result. Winner of what has since become his home race three years ago, the Czech driver added, ‘It started out really good. I got the TQ taking 3 of the 4 qualifiers. I was close in the last one to making the podium but my time was 3-seconds off Joern’s so I got fourth. I’m not happy at all with this’. Still the Xray Offroad team-manager vowed to get the job done at Round 4 in Austria next month concluding, ‘we can never stop working on getting better and I will come back stronger for the next one’. Orlowski leads Schumacher 1-2 in A2 Posted: 25 Feb 2018 05:49 AM PST Michal Orlowski took an easy win in the second A-Main of 4WD at EOS Slovakia, the Pole leading a Schumacher 1-2 at the Hudy Arena. Second in the opening encounter after a first lap error, Orlowski produced a near perfect race going ahead of Top Qualifier Martin Bayer on the opening laps when the Xray driver had a bobble at the main table top. Once in front Orlowski was never challenged pulling well clear of his rivals. Bayer lost further ground which allowed Neumann to go by on lap 5 and with the Top 3 all very evenly matched on pace the order stayed static for the remainder of the race. Having won the first final, Lee Martin wouldn’t have a good A2 finishing 6th behind fellow Brit Neil Cragg. Commenting on his win, Orlowski said, ‘I was on new tyres and from the warm-up I knew my car was good. Still, I started a bit easier so as to not make the same mistakes as A1’. He continued, ‘I got past Bayer when he had a bobble and tried to build a gap but the others had a few mistakes which made it easier for me. With a big gap I was able to back off towards the end to save my tyres for the last one’. With a win and a second place from the first two, only Lee Martin and Neumann can challenge Orlowski for the overall victory with Bayer’s chances having ended in A2 after he failed to get by Neumann. Enjoying his most competitive EOS outing for quite some time, Neumann was very pleased with his second place in A2. The German said, ‘I was on new tyres and was very fast again. I just got stuck behind Joona (Hataanen) for a couple of laps at the beginning until he made a mistake and I could get by and by then Michal was already gone. We had very similar pace so I couldn’t gain anything on him’. Setting the fastest lap of the race, just, his best a 23.533 compared to Orlowski’s 23.583, he said, ‘I think this is the first time in 3-years I am fighting for a podium. It’s not safe yet, it still is all open but I think my car will be even better now with the tyres on their second run’. Bayer said, ‘the car was now better. I used my first set (of tyres) from yesterday and they felt really good’. A driver who has been making time on everyone over the table top it was this that cost him the lead, he said, ‘I made a little bobble which allowed Michal in front, then I got pushed out wide by Lee. I tried to fight with Joern but we had the same speed and with no mistake it was impossible to catch him. Sitting fourth overall going into A3, he concluded, ‘hope the last one goes good’. Running the same set of tyres for a third time in A2, Lee Martin said, ‘My car had a little understeer that time. The tyres went off’. He Yokomo driver continued, ‘It was bit of a poor run really’. With a new set of tyres for the final round, the other two potential winners and Bayer having already used their new set, he is hoping this will give him the edge in the deciding final. Martin wins A1 as both Bayer & Orlowski mess up 1st lap Posted: 25 Feb 2018 04:29 AM PST Having started out 4WD not looking particularly competitive in practice, Lee Martin’s weekend is turning around with the Yokomo driver taking the A1 win at EOS Slovakia. Starting third on the grid, the former Champion benefited from mistakes by both drivers ahead of him, Michal Orlowski with the first error followed by a Martin Bayer mistake later in the opening lap. Initially it was Joern Nuemann who challenged Martin for the lead until a mistake and then getting caught and passed by team-mate Orlowski, it was the 2WD winner who tried to put pressure on the leader but he would run out of time. Setting the fastest lap of the race, he would finish 3/10ths behind Martin while Neumann completed the Top 3 ahead of Daniel Kobbevik and Bayer. ‘That was alright’ was Lee Martin’s reaction after the race. He continued, ‘obviously those two crashed out of the lead but I expected Michal to come at me harder. I had good pace at the end of the race which made it more difficult for him to close in’. Asked about his improving form, he replied, ‘Its pretty close now and I’m just going to drive the same in the next one’. Orlowski said, ‘I started out quick and was pushing Bayer. I could feel he was nervous. I was ready to get down his inside but had to check up which meant I couldn’t make the double and I dropped a couple of places.’ The EOS Daun winner added, ‘Joona and Joern made mistakes which allowed me to get by them and I was able to put in very quick laps but I ran out of time to catch Lee’. Looking to A2, the Polish teenager said, ‘Bayer has used his new tyres which is good for me as I still have new tyres and he will feel more pressure as he has now needs results from the next two (mains)’. Commenting on his 3rd, Neumann said, ‘It was very good because I was on third run tyres. I decided to use them for the first one so I have good tyres for the next two’. On the race he said, ‘It was very close until I hit the barriers which let Lee get a gap. Then I had to single single the middle jump and Michal got by me’. In terms of his car, the German having had a strong finish this morning to qualifying he said, ‘I changed the set-up for Q2 last night and it was not good so I went back for Q3 and it was really good. I will leave all the same’. Ending up with a 5th, Top Qualifier Bayer summed up the first final as a ‘disaster’. The Xray driver added, ‘I made a mistake but I was on new tyres and again like in 2WD they were totally different to the previous set. I had zero forward traction, it was like I had the handbrake on.’ For A2 he said, ‘I will go back to one of my qualifying sets (of tyres) and hope the 2nd & 3rd finals are better’. Orlowski takes final qualifier to line-up 2nd Posted: 25 Feb 2018 02:11 AM PST With the TQ already decided in Q3, Martin Bayer getting it done with a third TQ run, the fourth & final qualifier at the Hudy Arena was to decide how the rest of the field would like up behind the Xray driver. Having retired from Q3, ending his chances of the TQ double in Slovakia, Orlowski would lay down his intentions for the final by posting the fastest qualifying time of the weekend event with a far from perfect run that included a substantial late mistake. Still the EOS Daun winner was able to hold on to a Schumacher 1-2 as former Champion Joern Neumann finished just 0.021 off his team-mate. The result means Orlowski starts second while Neumann jumped from looking like he may not make the A-Main to starting 5th. Fourth fastest in the final qualifier behind Bayer, Lee Martin will start 3rd on the grid thanks to his P2 and P3 from Q3 & 2. Making it four different manufacturers represented at the front of the grid Joona Hataanen, who found himself seeded in the second fastest heat, will start 4th, team-mate Neil Cragg starting 8th behind Marc Rheinard. Bayer Top Qualifier at EOS Slovakia Posted: 25 Feb 2018 01:18 AM PST Martin Bayer is the 4WD Top Qualifier at the Euro Offroad Series in Slovakia. The Xray driver secured pole for his home race with his 3rd straight TQ run in the penultimate round of qualifying this morning at the Hudy Arena. Leading away the field, Bayer’s chances of wrapping up an early TQ were helped on the opening lap when his main challenger Michal Orlowski put his Schumacher on its roof. It wasn’t to be the 2WD winners morning as his run would last little over a minute, a broken top deck causing his belt to come loose and leaving him with no drive. Bayer would have one mistake over the 5-minutes which put Lee Martin on the TQ pace but within two laps the Yokomo driver also made an error reinstating the original order. Daniel Kobbevik would complete the Top 3 for the third qualifier with Neil Cragg enjoying a good run to record the 4th fastest time. ‘I’m really proud of myself that I didn’t throw away the first run of the morning, its a very good morning’, was Bayer’s reaction to claiming his second EOS career TQ. A 3-time 4WD race winner, he continued, ‘the car feels very good now and I am getting more confident with it every run. Maybe I will test some ideas in the last one but the car feels really good’. Looking to the finals, he said, ‘I’m strongest at the end of the run and Michal is stronger at the start so I just need to get through the first few laps and I should be OK’. Commenting on his best qualifier so far Lee Martin said, ‘I crashed that one, it was driver error. I ran a slightly older battery that one and it didn’t have enough punch for me’. Making progress with his car set-up, asked if he would make any changes for the final qualifier the former champion replied, ‘I’ll just run new tyres and a newer battery. I’m afraid to change anything in case it only makes the car worse. I will also try to drive a little better’. Team-mate Marc Rheinard, whose set-up Martin copied after struggling in practice, would post the 5th fastest time of Q3. Claiming his maiden podium finish at the season opener in Poland, Kobbevik said, ‘I tried to have a clean run, my car was difficult to drive because I was on new tyres’. The 13-year-old Norwegian added the run was ‘smooth with not so many mistakes’. Holding 4th on the grid after 3 of the 4 qualifiers, he hopes to capitalize on his second run on the tyres saying, ‘I hope for better result in the next one.’ ‘I don’t think I have been 4th before in 4WD’, was Cragg’s reaction to his much improved Q3 run. The Team Associated driver said, ‘It is tough going out there to be honest. 2WD was a lot easier than 4WD’. Registering his first EOS win in 2WD at the previous round of the championship, he continued, ‘the car was just OK but I drove as good as I could, no crashes, nothing crazy. I was not that far off so we will change a few other things to see if we can get more speed for the last one’. View complete event results here. View the event image gallery here. Rheinard grabs 2nd to share lead with Coelho Posted: 04 Feb 2018 09:44 AM PST Marc Rheinard grabbed 2nd overall with a late victory in A3 over Ronald Volker at the Euro Touring Series second round in Germany, a result that sees the Infinity driver share the championship lead with race winner Bruno Coelho. With Coelho wrapping up his 11th ETS career win in A2, the closing race of the first ever event at Daun was a dual between touring car’s two great rivals with Volker leading away the 9 car field, Coelho watching from the sidelines. Off the start immediately Rheinard had Volker under pressure but a mistake by the former looked to decide the result when he put his car on its side at the same corner that would later determine the final podium order. Managing to right the car himself, the deficit looked too big but a determined Rheinard was closing. A slight mistake from Volker then set-up the final showdown and with two laps to go Rheinard slid his car down the inside of the Yokomo, contact sending an unhappy Volker wide. With Volker getting caught at the line, the final lap was a lap of victory for Rheinard. Reacting to his second place, Rheinard said, ‘Its the perfect ending, well obviously 1st would be best but now myself and Bruno have a TQ and a 1 & 2 each. To end the carpet season on the same points is a good start’. A driver who is openly not a huge fan of carpet racing, on A3 he said, ‘I refreshed my shocks before the race and the car felt even better than before. I was really confident because I knew I was a little faster than Ronald but then I rolled, luckily it landed on the tyres. After that I just tried to close the gap and I could see at the end of the straight sweeper that I was closing the gap. One time Ronald went wide and in this direction it was at the only corner on the track where you could make a pass’. ‘Disappointed to finish 3rd’ was Volker reaction. He continued, ‘the car pushed quite a lot in A3 and that’s why I was under pressure from Marc’. The World Champion was also not happy with his rivals move. ‘It was not a clean pass. My car flew into the barrier, sure I went a little wide the corner before the hairpin but I was still ahead. He basically forced his way through. Sure he had to try and there was a big gap behind us but my car flew way too far so in my opinion it was not ok. The referee said nothing so I have to live with it’. Despite his grievances, he concluded, I’m happy with the team result. We made the podium in both Modified and Pro Stock and a great job from Bruno. He was a deserving winner this weekend.’ View complete event results here. View the event image gallery here. FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |

Ratheisky makes it 2 out of 2 in Pro Stock Posted: 04 Feb 2018 09:38 AM PST Jan Ratheisky has made two Pro Stock wins from two races in the Yokomo Euro Touring Series, the Xray driver claiming victory in Germany with the win in A3. Having thrown away a potential win in A1, the Top Qualifier put in improved performances in the next two to end the carpet section of the championship with maximum points. Behind him team-mate Mustafa Alp made it an Xray 1-2, the Turkish driver showing good form this weekend in Daun. Unfortunately for A1 winner Max Mächler his luck was to run out with the Awesomatix crashing out in the next two encounters leaving him with a 6th. The podium would instead be completed by the Yokomo of France’s Alex Kunkler. In Formula, Olivier Bultynck came out the overall winner. Winning A1 after Top Qualifier David Ehrbar crashed on the opening lap, in A2 Ehrbar redeemed himself to win as Bultynck had a rough race. This set-up A3 as the decider but again Ehrbar had a mistake on lap 1 handing Luke Lee a lead he would hold till the finish. Second place now became the potential decider with both taking turns at leading each other but again a mistake from Ehrbar was his undoing handing Bultynck second and the overall win. Joining them on the podium would be Ratheisky, the championship leader remaining at the top of the standings having turn around a tough qualifying. In the Infinity 40+ Masters Class, Ozer Yürüm lead from tone to tone, as he had done in A1, to take the overall win from Thomas Oehler and Marcus Askell. View complete event results here. Maximum points haul for Coelho in Germany Posted: 04 Feb 2018 05:00 AM PST Bruno Coelho has claimed maximum points at Round 2 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Germany, the reigning champion converting his TQ into overall victory. Having to settle for second behind Marc Rheinard at the season opener in Vienna, Coelho was the man to beat from the get go in Daun and duly wrapped things up with another relatively straight forward tone to tone victory in A2 helping by challenger Ronald Volker tapping out during the encounter. Commenting on his 11th ETS career win, Coelho said, ‘I can’t ask for more. I was using a new 5T motor from Hobbywing and my new BR1 servo for the first time and its also my first race since signing for Sunpadow batteries in January. The quality on the table is there and I’m very happy about that’. On his A2 performance, the Portuguese driver said, ‘It was a very good final for me. Volker pushed a lot behind me but I was still on a safe pace and could have pushed more it I had to. We improved the car a lot from qualifying. Volker’s mistake let me breath easy and then I just controlled the race to the end’. He concluded, ‘It is good to the get a win on the table before we move outdoors for the next race’. Finishing just under a second behind Coelho in A2, Rheinard said, ‘This time it didn’t start well, I couldn’t find my rhythm for the first minute. I tried to catch Bruno over the last minute be was only closing because he was driving safe’. With second in A2 putting him in with a chance of second overall at his home race which would see him leave as joint leader of the standings with Coelho, he continued, ‘I will try to maybe finish 2nd. I will go for the win but I need to look behind me as Yannic (Prumper) now has a third. I will try to get by Ronald but its important to get at least a podium’. Crashing on what he thought was both his and Alexander Hagberg’s final lap but Hagberg missing the extra lap by 0.027 of a second, Prumper said, ‘I was lucky Hagberg was already finished. I was fighting with him for position and rolled but only knew afterwards he was already finished and only I got the extra lap’. With Prumper’s return to the front of the pack a welcomed sight this weekend, the Yokomo driver said, ‘I ran less rear toe-in but still the car was understeering but I could still challenge Marc at the start but then fell off. I will go more with the change for the last one. I have a chance of the podium so I go maximum push’. Ending up sixth after his contact with the boards, Volker said, ‘It started better. I pulled away from Marc and Bruno was just holding the gap at the beginning’. He continued, ‘I tried to catch him and went all or nothing. I took the risk and it didn’t pay off. I hit the board which sent the car tumbling a couple of times. Now I need to win the last one to get second’. View complete event results here. View the event image gallery here.
