Xray teasing electric-powered RX8 1/8th EP kit Posted: 15 Mar 2018 08:07 AM PDT Xray’s own Martin Hudy has shared the image of a prototype RX8E 1/8th electric on-road car on social media. The car is based off of the nitro-propelled RX8 and seems to use a drop fit electric conversion consisting of an updated radio tray assembly that takes two 2S shorty LiPo batteries and the speed controller while the motor mount houses an 1/8th-class motor with incorporated fan mount. We bring you more information on the subject as it surfaces. Source: Xray [teamxray.com] |

Answer RC D817 carbon arm stiffeners Posted: 15 Mar 2018 06:40 AM PDT Coming from Answer RC and made for HB Racing’s D8 series of buggies, such as the D817, D815 and D812, are carbon fibre arm stiffeners. The purpose of the carbon arm covers is to stiffen the arm and give a less flexible suspension set up and reduce traction a little. Ideal in high grip situations or to tune the handling of the car. These UK-made items vary in several ways to the standard HB items and Answer RC’s other own brand items in so far as they do not use countersunk holes for the securing screws giving a two fold benefit. No countersunk gives a stronger securing surface and by virtue of not being countersunk they are now not sided so that they can be flipped and used either side meaning if drivers have a tendency to damage one side they don’t end up with a collection of carbon covers for the alternate side. Another problem faced by some users is that the stock 2.5mm screws can pull out from the arm over time. Included with each set are 10 x 3.0mm screws as well as the 2.5mm screws which allow re-use of the arm even when the screw threads have become damaged in the arm. Also included is a 2.5mm drill bit which is ideal for opening the stock hole up if going straight to 3.0mm screw fitment. The arm covers are available separately for the front or the rear of the buggy. Source: Answer RC [answer-rc.com] |

Shepherd Velox E8 4S 1/8th electric on-road kit Posted: 15 Mar 2018 02:26 AM PDT Shepherd have introduced the new Velox E8 4S 1/8th electric on-road kit. Based on the Velox E8 platform, the car was developed to meet the demand for a cost-efficient and high-performance electric car that complies with the regulations of the newly created EFRA 1/8th electric on-road class. The updated radio-plate now takes two shorty-LiPos as well as the speed controller. The batteries are centred in the middle of the vehicle allowing for optimal balance. By positioning them as far backward as possible the traction was improved significantly, which is required when using high-torque electric motors. The speed controller is mounted directly on the chassis for easy access and good cooling efficiency. The redesigned motor mount accommodates a variety of different 1/8 electric motors and a built-in carbon fibre fan mount allows the installation of a large 40mm fan. The symmetrical chassis plate is characterised by ventilation openings and supports the cooling of the electronic components. The kit will hit stores very soon. Source: Shepherd [team-shepherd.com] |
Kaja Novotny sweeps Czech EP Off-road Nats Rd1 Posted: 15 Mar 2018 02:13 AM PDT The opening round of the Czech National Electric Off-road Championship was held in Hrotovice at the same venue as the popular Mibosport Cup. The organisers used the same track layout as during the Mibosport Cup final, meaning things would be pretty close up front. Already in practice Xray’s Kaja Novotny showed a pretty amazing performance in 2WD and Truck, however he struggled a bit in 4WD. The 2WD class then saw Kaja taking the overall TQ from Max Götzl and Ales Bidovsky in 2nd and 3rd. In the opening 2WD main Kaja was leading by a big margin only to loose the lead after a stupid mistake that cost him about six seconds and that promoted Ales into the lead that he would hold onto until the finish line. However in A2 and A3 Kaja pulled away again and this time without any errors to take the overall win with Max finishing 2nd in both finals. 2WD Buggy final results: In 4WD and after finding a good setup, Kaja and TQ’d the 1st and 2nd round to secure the overall TQ with the fastest time in Q2. Max Götzl took the 2nd place with also quite big gap to 3rd place. In the finals, Kaja managed to win A1 and A2 with Max in 2nd and winning A3 for the overall runner-up spot. Marek Schiller would complete the top 3. 4WD Buggy final results: In Truck Kaja was pretty much unbeatable as he TQ’d all three rounds with Max and Marcel Dostal coming in 2nd and 3rd. The opening A-main was a pretty entertaining one with Kaja and Max swapping the lead multiple times. In the end Kaja held the upper hand though, bringing home the win in A1 and A2 for the overall.
