| JConcepts Stalkers 1/8th buggy tyre Posted: 27 Mar 2018 08:39 AM PDT Coming from JConcepts is their new Stalkers 1/8th buggy the for rough and dry surfaces. The tread was developed for surfaces which mature over time, get rough, dry and with extreme scaling to the surface. The Reflex tyre, designed by Jason Ruona in early 2014, has been a success and the Stalker is a chip off the old block. The design team checked over the carcass profile, height and width to assure the best balance of weight and drivability. The Stalkers began with an enlarged square pin which has slight angle on each side. The angle creates some separation at the top which gives some bite in wet conditions providing some versatility to the design. As the pins meet the base of the tyre, the spacing tightens considerably giving a stable footing for the Stalkers. The stacked row configuration and simple connected pins offer massive forward acceleration. The aligned rows allow some surface drift making the tires forgiving in sand and bumpy track sections. The outside pin has been clipped to help drive-ability and ease the initial turn-in drivers often have concern for. Using softer compounds such as blue and green, the tyre has stability and flexibility for fast qualifying. The pin real-estate provides a lot of cushion for extended main events and when paired with long-wear compounds such as R2, O2 and Y2, the race pace can be pushed out to 45 to 60 minutes with ease. | Posted: 27 Mar 2018 07:35 AM PDT Japanese frontrunner, Naoki Akiyama has announced his departure from chassis sponsors Yokomo. Naoki looks back at a pretty successful four years with the company, having achieved an AOC Korea win as well as Worlds, TITC and ETS A-main appearances to name just a few. The multiple JMRCA podium finisher has yet to announce his new sponsor but in the meantime he had the following to say: I want to thank all at Team Yokomo and especially Yukijiro Umino and Ronald Völker. After almost four years with the team it is time to move on and to go the next step. |
| Xray Racing Series Australia Rd2 – Report Posted: 27 Mar 2018 07:16 AM PDT The second round of the Xray Racing Series Australia was held at Castle Hill Onroad Race club in very hot weather conditions. 30 degrees Celsius both on Saturday and Sunday made for demanding conditions but luckily the track is undercover and racers had plenty of shade all weekend. With a total of 50 Entries racing was clean and fair on the tight but grippy layout. In the ISTC Modified class Jeffrey Mackie ultimately took the win from Simon Nicholson and John Puse. ISTC 13.5T had Alex Ilievski walking away with the winning honours from Tony Smith 2nd and Hayden Smith 3rd. | Brad Ripple wins at Thornhill Championship Posted: 27 Mar 2018 07:01 AM PDT The Thornhill Championship weekend brought almost 100 entries from all over Texas and with almost 30 trucks, E-Truggy drew the most attention. | Marco Kaufmann doubles at Pegasus Masters Posted: 27 Mar 2018 06:42 AM PDT The recent Pegasus Masters were held in Piding in four different electric on-road classes. A huge 30×18 metres track made for perfect racing conditions and it was Marco Kaufmann who dominated both the Touring Modified and Stock classes. He took the TQ in both categories and would also seal the overall wins after winning the opening two A-mains. Stadler Dionys and Carl-Friedrich Grössel in Modified and Christian Donath and Andreas Mair in Stock would round out the podium results behind Marco. Source: Xray [teamxray.com] |
| Nicolas Bregante wins at Metropolitan Champs Rd1 Posted: 27 Mar 2018 06:22 AM PDT Round 1 of the Metropolitan Championship was held at the new Speed Paradise track in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The event was attended by 55 drivers in the five different categories of Buggy Open, Master and Pro, Truggy and Brushless. | Michele Manzo wins Swiss Indoor Champs Posted: 27 Mar 2018 06:06 AM PDT The fourth and final round of the Swiss Indoor Championship was held in Holzikon last weekend. In the Touring Modified class Yokomo’s Fabian Widmer took the TQ from Michele Manzo (Yokomo) and Team Magic’s Renato Isler and in the finals Fabian and Michele swapped placed for the win of Michele from Fabian and Renato. Overall in the championship it was also Michele with the win from Fabian and Renato, who rounded out the top 3. Philipp Huber and Marco Balmer (both Team Magic) completed the top 5 results. | Bezerk EB410 wing riser 3mm & 5mm Posted: 27 Mar 2018 05:30 AM PDT Coming from Bezerk RC are 3mm and 5mm carbon fibre rear wing risers for the Tekno EB410 buggy. The part raises the rear wing up to improve tyre clearance, improve the amount of air that flows over the wing and supports the wing to improve its longevity. | Posted: 27 Mar 2018 04:15 AM PDT The final round of the 2017/18 RugRacers series was held this past weekend. With the championship wrapped up for Xray driver, Zak Finlay, the final podium position still up for grabs. Billy Fletcher took his Destiny to FTQ ahead of the 3rd place contender Paul Pinkney with his Schumacher, and Dominic Carters for Awesomatix 3rd. Leg 1 ended early after clipping the 1st corner Billy would retire with damage from the melee, Paul with the win. Leg 2 would see racing all through the field with the shake out seeing Jon Bowdens (Schumacher) take the leg from 5th, Ashley Wiffens (Awesomatix) 2nd and Paul 3rd. This would mean Paul Pinkney took the win ahead of Jon Bowden and Dominic Carter. Overall it was Zak Finlay from Billy Fletcher and Paul Pinkney. With the GT12 title already in the hands of Owen Smith qualifying would be a superb show between the two youngsters of Owen Smith and Harley Eldridge trading FTQ each round with Owen taking pole by just 1 second. Leg 1 was a great battle between the front two the fight would cost them though with Michael Hull coming through from 4th to take the Leg, Chris 2nd, Harley 3rd. Leg 2 Owen took the win after a 1st lap incident dropped Harley down to 5th, still able to recover to 2nd after some great overtakes Chris Wilkinson 3rd. This meant Owen would take the win from Harley and Chris Wilkinson. As for the championship it was Owen Smith 1st, Chris Wilkinson 2nd, Carl Beecroft 3rd. Tamiya Trucks has been a great affair to watch this season with lots of laughter and some great looking trucks as well. The racing has been close and fun to watch. The finals saw Hampo on pole ahead of Malc Hall and young Adam Southgate. The top 3 stayed the same with the order shuffled up a bit Malc taking the overall from Hampo with Adam 3rd.
