2018 Lonestar Nitro Challenge – Report Posted: 30 May 2018 08:34 AM PDT This past weekend was the 2018 Lonestar Nitro Challenge at Thornhill Raceway put on by Joey Christiansen and directed by Jimmy Babcock. The three day event was pretty standard with Friday practice, Saturday qualifying, and Sunday mains plus the always popular horseshoe tournament. As far as the racing went, Team Associated’s Jake Dellinger would take the TQ honors in Pro Buggy and Pro E-Buggy with Dillon Caldwell taking TQ in Pro Truggy. In Pro Buggy Jake Dellinger and Dillon Caldwell would break away from the field early with Tekno’s Tyler Hooks not far behind, but with Tyler having a DNF early on, the race for 3rd was seemingly Team Associated’s Austin Jeffries until Xray’s Ethan Lefebvre mounted a late race charge to take over the spot. Jake Delligner would come out victorious after a lengthy battle with Caldwell which ended in a flame out for the HB Racing privateer, Caldwell would rebound to finish 2nd. Pro Truggy would see Dillon Caldwell walk away from the field, Ethan Lefebvre who ran 2nd for about half the race would run into problems taking him out of the race and promoting Tyler Hooks to 2nd and HB Racing’s Chris Marrant to 3rd after a 45 minute battle with Mugen’s Miguel Villalobos for the final podium spot. Finally in Pro E-Buggy with a double A-main format there was little margin for error. Tyler Hooks would take the A1 victory with Austin Jeffries finishing 2nd after a late race mistake from Jake Dellinger who would round out 3rd. In A2 Hooks would fall back to the end of the field early but would rebound to finish 3rd. Austin Jeffries would hold off Jake Dellinger to take the A2 victory with Dellinger finishing 2nd. Jeffries would take the overall win, with Hooks in 2nd, and Dellinger 3rd. Tekno EB410 front & rear swaybar sets Posted: 30 May 2018 08:07 AM PDT Tekno RC have announced two new swaybar sets for the EB410 1/10th scale 4WD buggy. They make it easier to fine-tune the setup depending on the traction level, from loamy low traction surfaces to high grip carpet. The front set includes wires thicker than those found in TKR6623 and are best used on higher grip surfaces such as carpet or blue grooved clay. They provide a great tuning option to reduce steering sensitivity and prevent traction rolling on high bite surfaces. Included are five 1.5mm to 1.9mm wires. The rear set includes thinner-than-stock swaybars, making them a useful option for low grip surfaces. They will help generate additional rear traction and can also aid in stabilising the rear suspension on very bumpy surfaces. Included are five 1.0mm to 1.4mm wires. Source: Tekno [teknorc.com] |

Norwegian National Series Rd1 – Report Posted: 30 May 2018 06:52 AM PDT The opening round of the Norwegian National Series was held at the Kodal Raceway in Sandefjord on an entertaining track that offered both fast and technical bits in addition to a bumpy surface and a somewhat low grip level. On Saturday the 1/10th 200mm Nitro Touring class was run with the race format seeing three round of qualifying followed by the Superpole, semis and 45-minute A-main final. Oskar Fjeld would dominate the qualifying to secure the TQ for the main final with his old spec Xray while Andrè Røine would go on to win the superpole with his newer spec NT1. In the 45-minute main final, Oskar started to build a gap right from the start and with some of his strongest contenders retiring early from the race, he went into cruise mode in order to save tyres. Ultimately Oskar would finish seven laps in front of Andrè Røine in 2nd and Jo Brede Isaksen in 3rd. 200mm Touring top 3 results: On Sunday it was time for the first round of the Touring Modified class. The race format saw three rounds of round by round qualifiers followed by triple mains. In the opening round Oskar would continue his pace from Saturday to TQ the round with his Schumacher, some 0.04 sec in front of Øyvind Stusdal. ARC driver Helge Johannesen would take round two, and Geir Bjarte Terum round three. When the dust had settled, Helge would secure TQ tied on points wtih Øyvind while Andrè Røine would start from P3. In the opening A-main Helge survived massive attacks from Øyvind in the early parts of the race, but was later taken out of the race in a big incident. After much action Øyvind took the win in front of Oskar, who started from 10th on the grid. In the second main and with Helge not starting, Andrè would touch Øyvind in the opening lap allowing Geir Bjarte to take the lead. Øyvind would recover and take back the lead at the end of the run and hold on to it until the finish line. Oskar would again pull off a great run to take another 2nd place finish. In the final A-main, Andrè was pushing hard to get past Øyvind. Unfortunately they would come together leaving Øyvind on his roof. Andrè showed great sportsmanship and waited, dropping them to the back of the field. Up front Oskar got by to take the win in the last leg to secure the overall runner-up spot behind Øyvind as Andrè would take the final podium spot. Touring Modified top 3 results: Thanks to Øyvind Stusdal for the report. |
