Posted: 06 Sep 2018 02:25 AM PDT

The Indonesia R/C Car Community (IRCC) together with Infinity hosted the recent 2018 Indonesian Challenge at Hobby Track Sukoharjo, an indoor track located in central Java, Solo. The event was attended by Racers from several countries, including, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and also from various provinces across Indonesia, the most notable overseas drivers were Naoto Matsukura and Kyle McBride. The format of the race is run with 4 Qualifying Rounds and Bump up Finals. Kyle McBride took the opening round TQ, followed by Matsukura in the second round. While Matsukura was not able to run the 3rd round, McBride easily took his second TQ, but Matsukura bounced back and got the TQ for the last round and with a faster time took the overall TQ.

While the traction of the track was getting more and more slippery since the beginning of the race-day and also some spot bumps appeared, the developing surface condition only made the finals more interesting. On the tone for the 45 minutes A-main final and Naoto lead the pack with McBride following closely behind. The leading pair pulled away from the rest of the pack and up until about 30 minutes mark of the race, Naoto was able to pull away from McBride. However at the 43 minutes mark the Japanese driver made a mistake on the top left hand corner table top and flipped over his car and flamed out. Capitalising on Naoto’s misfortune, McBride could take over the lead and took home the win in front of Matsukura in 2nd. Stanley Wangsanegara took 3rd position after recovering from a first corner start disaster dropping him down to 14th place.
