Singapore RCMC Nitro Buggy Championship – Report Posted: 10 Oct 2018 05:46 AM PDT Lap Paradise Raceway hosted the final round of the Singapore RCMC 1/8 Nitro Buggy National Championship last weekend. Wonderful weather greeted a total of 45 drivers that attended the race which included the three classes of 1/8th Buggy, Truggy and E-Buggy. Defending Champion Joe Hwee (HB Racing/O.S./AKA) seemed to be in good form as he claimed TQ after topping all the three qualifying rounds. Fadzil (Mugen/O.S./PL) who recently showed good pace during the FEMCA races managed to put in a clean run in Q3 to claim P2 while Wenyi (Mugen/O.S./PL) and Ah Leng (Mugen/Mugen/AKA) managed to qualify 3rd and 4th and Young Gun Danial (Kyosho/O.S./PL) qualified 5th. In the 60-minutes final Joe and Fadzil had a bad start and dropped to the end of the field after lap 1, as Wenyi and Danial capitalised on the front guy’s issues to lead the pack. The pair swapped position during the first half of the final while Joe was working hard to catch up, at one point he managed to exchange laps with the pair but ran out of fuel twice which dropped him down the order. Meanwhile Esmail (HB Racing/Picco/AKA), coming from 11th position, was running well and was holding on to P3 but in the closing stages of the race Joe recovered from his early issue and was charging hard, closing up on his team mate. While the clock was just about to expired and Joe’s hopes of catching up to Esmail were fading away, a mistake on the 5-packs section just two corners from the finished line, allowed Joe to snatch the final podium position. The race ended with Danial finishing in P1 and Wenyi in P2. After six rounds the championship Joe managed to defend National Championship based on the best 4 of 6 races. Young Danial, despite winning the final race once again, only managed to finished 2nd in the National standings, as Kai (HongNor/O.S./AKA) who had a bad final race, managed to hold on to 3rd overall as the Mugen duo of Fadzil and Leng finished 4th and 5th respectively. Overall top 10 results: Thanks to Joe Hwee for the report. |
3rd annual Full Throttle Championship – Report Posted: 10 Oct 2018 05:28 AM PDT The Full Throttle Championship took place last recently with the largest classes being USGT and 17.5 Sedan. The Banana Raceway is a smaller track of CRC black carpet glued to a wood subfloor inside a well-lit and climate-controlled building. This year’s race was the third instalment of this event and attracted drivers from around Texas, LA and OK. The 3-day schedule following a rocket round format allowed for practice all day Friday with three qualifiers on Saturday, an LCQ on Sunday followed by AAA mains. The tight layout was installed Thursday night and rewarded drivers who kept up with their setups as the grip transitioned from low on Friday to medium-high grip by Sunday afternoon. The premier Modified Sedan class was dominated by Chris Adams, Andrew Doherty and Steve Breuer securing the top 3 qualifying positions respectively and earning the same top 3 finishing positions. The 17.5 Sedan class has Andrew Doherty taking the overall from Marc McGurren and TJ Ball. In 17.5 1/12th scale mains lots of position changes and challenges were for the drivers to overcome. After all was sorted through the three mains Marc McGurren finished on top in front of Keooura and Robert Bremmer. USGT represented the largest class of the weekend. Marc McGurren and Billy Land went to work in qualifying and secured TQ and 2nd and then backed it up in the mains taking the top two steps from Gilbert Santos 3rd. In the Formula class, Christian Jones took the win ahead of Robert Bremmer took 2nd while Brian Montgomery completed the podium. Source: Xray [teamxray.com] |

Nacho Lopez wins Spanish 1/8th IC Track finale Posted: 10 Oct 2018 03:16 AM PDT The final round of the Spanish 1/8th IC Track Nationals was held in Sevilla last weekend. Adrian Santerio was on fire the whole weekend, taking the overall TQ with Nacho Lopez securing himself the 2 spot on the grid after the super pole race. The start of the main final was a clean affair and Adrian was able to jump into the lead, closely followed by Nacho. However Adrian had a small bobble some minutes into the race that allowed Nacho to take the lead and from there he tried to manage the gap as he was on a tyre saving strategy. Later Adrian had to retire due to radio issues which allowed Nacho to keep it a bit easier and to bring home the win after the 45-minute A-main. Source: Serpent [serpent.com] |
ZooRacing ZooZilla 190mm touring car body shell Posted: 10 Oct 2018 02:58 AM PDT RC-KleinKram from Germany have announced their new ZooRacing performance body shell brand ZooRacing. The first body to hit stores is the ZooZilla 190mm touring car body shell. Developed to produce medium overall downforce with lots of steering and great rear end stability the all-round body is the ideal choice for both carpet and outdoor tracks. The shell sports a couple of aero features such as a steep front end for on-the-point steering precision while the recessed roof section channels the airflow towards the rear wing for exceptional rear end stability at both low and high speeds. Angled vortex generators, placed strategically above the rear window, are a first-ever for an electric touring car body, and they help to smooth the airflow over the rear window, trunk and rear wing for greatly improved aerodynamic efficiency, lower drag and more predictable rear downforce. The body is outfitted with several trick anti-tuck features such as structured side skirts and a clever rear end design including reinforcement ribs on the trunk lid, all of which add to the overall aerodynamics and looks while greatly preventing body tucks without the need for additional reinforcements. Adding to the whole package is the recessed roof section that not only adds visual impact but also greatly improves overall stability – something that comes in handy especially when running the body in ultra lightweight configuration. Other hot features include large wheel arches that allow the body to be placed up to 4mm to the front for increased steering reaction or up to 4mm to the back for increased rear stability – making it 8mm in total. All this can be done without having to fear tyre rubs or unsightly cut out wheel wells. The body, designed using the latest CAD techniques also features a 100mm grid for the rear body mounts, ensuring highly precise body placement and mounting. The ZooZilla 190mm body shell comes moulded from high-quality polycarbonate and it is available in two thicknesses: a lightweight 0.5mm variant that will weigh in at 55g cut and including wing while the standard thickness 0.7mm variant will come out at 83g cut and including wing – meaning the latter will easily make the new 90g ETS rule. Part of the package are also the revolutionary 2-step window masks that will ensure window frames of Pro quality. In a first step all windows are masked using the Step 1 masks. After the painting of the body is completed, the masks will be removed and replaced by the slightly smaller Step 2 masks that leave the window frames exposed and ready to be painted in your favourite colour. The result is highly precise without the need to pre-cut or in-body-cut the window masks, ensuring greater satisfaction and less chances of creating predetermined breaking points. The body package is rounded out by high-quality wing mounting hardware and a detailed sticker sheet including grille, head and tail lights. Source: ZooRacing [zoo-racing.com] |
Reflex Racing introduce new TC7.2 optionals Posted: 10 Oct 2018 01:13 AM PDT Reflex Racing have introduced new optional parts for the Team Associated TC7.2 touring car. First up is the RSD bumper brace and bumper brace stop. It helps protect the carbon fibre from de-laminating and aluminium chassis from bending in frontal collisions. The set works with the stock AE foam bumper and it is a direct fit. Next up is the carbon fibre spur gear plate for the TC7.2. The lightweight spur gear plate helps keep the spur spinning true for better gear mesh and more durability. The part is machined from high-quality carbon fibre and it comes including suitable mounting hardware. Also new and made for the TC7 to TC7.2 kits is a set of machined aluminium A-arms. They were developed for high bite conditions, especially CRC black carpet and the optimised rigidity of the arms increases response time and corner speed. When used with AE caster blocks and steering blocks in the front and AE rear hubs, these should be able to be used on Yokomo BD TC and Tamiya TRF 418 and beyond TC kits. While the arms are super tough and optimised for weight and strength, in hard collisions, they can bend, so if a track is particularly hard on cars the original parts may be preferable. The set includes two front and two rear arms. Source: Reflex Racing [reflexracing.net] |
