JConcepts Twin Pins & Nessi 2.2” rear tyres

Posted: 14 Nov 2018 10:30 AM PST

Two new 1/10th buggy rear tyres are coming from JConcepts in the form of the Twin Pins 2.2” and Nessi 2.2”. Starting with the Twin Pins carpet tyre, the tread features a dual spike design which is connected together to form a mini-mountain like silhouette. The Twins are rotated throughout the design to form a solid, pin rich environment so surface area is maximised. The tyre carcass itself has been refined, slammed to low-profile, high-speed standards and slimmed out to reduce weight in all possible areas. The centre section of the tyre is connected at the base by an ultra-low, winding “river walk” which strengthens pins near the base. The “river walk” can also extend the longevity of the tyre once the pins are gone, the “walk” retains some height for emergency long distance main events. The outside of a tire can make or break side-bite, too much pin and the tire can be somewhat tippy, while not enough yields a squirrely vehicle. The very outside of the Twin Pins have legs which extend out to micro pins giving the racer all-important support turning high-speed corners. The pink compound marked with two pink dots on the tyre represents a new compound for JConcepts, a medium soft material with healthy wear characteristics. The rear tyres include open cell inserts making them a complete set ready to mount, straight out of the package.

Over to the Nessi, the tyre is another option for the carpet and astroturf racing world. The Nessi tyre shares styling cues from its successful brother, the Lockness. Racing on artificial surfaces require a lot of stability and forward-bite and the JC design team went to work to substantially improve performance. The new tyre brings a new 3D blended pin-size, pin-separation and a light-weight and low-profile carcass. Designed in the industry standard 2.2” bead mounting size, the Nessi is very versatile and has shown to work in many natural and artificial conditions. The semi-circle protrusions, unique to the Lockness and now the Nessi are included in the centre section of the tyre and on the sidewall area. These details are important and the low semi-circles improves side-bite but also minimise grip-rolling instances associated with normal pins. The tyre comes in pink compound and including open cell inserts.

Exotek introduce new 22 SR & EB410 optionals

Posted: 14 Nov 2018 12:45 AM PST

Exotek have introduced new optional parts for the TLR 22 SR and Tekno EB410 1/10th scale off-road buggies. First up is a set of Puck diff outdrives for the TLR 22 SR. The conversion outdrive cups for the SR diff allow to use the diff with the popular MIP pucks and roller bones. The parts replace the stock plastic outdrives of the 22 SR diff with heavy-duty hard-anodised 7075 aluminium cups for longer lasting stock racing performance when combined with optional MIP pucks or rollers. The stock TLR 22 bones are not compatible and 67mm length Puck bones are recommended for the 22 4.0.

Also new are long titanium steering posts with 2mm head for the Tekno EB410 buggy. The parts eliminate the problem of not being able to push down on the posts when screwing them into the bulkheads with a socket driver. They are lightweight, smooth fitting, heavy duty and help to make maintenance on the EB410 a breeze.

Tamiya USA have announced the RC replica of the Toyota GAZO Racing TS050 Hybrid. The World Endurance Championship race car competed throughout the WEC 2018-2019 season and this specific kit celebrates Toyota’s first ever win at the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Tamiya replica sits atop the 2WD F103GT Chassis, which is easy to build and maintain, thanks to its simple 2WD direct drive system with grippy rubber tyres that supply plenty of traction. The chassis’ FRP double-deck frame employs 1.5mm upper and 2.5mm lower decks, cushioned by link-type arm and coil spring left/right independent front suspension. An FRP T-bar is the centrepiece of the rigid rear suspension setup, working in tandem with the friction plate and coil spring unit to provide a smooth drive. The height adjustable gear case allows a range of ground clearance settings, and contains a high-performance ball differential. Front uprights give a 3 degrees caster angle, and are equipped with 850 ball bearings. The kit is set for a release in January 2019.

Features:
– 1/10 scale R/C model assembly kit. Length: 418mm, width: 188mm, height: 115mm. Wheelbase: 257mm
– Includes multi-piece polycarbonate body with separate body, shark fin, canard, light case and wing components. Moulded ABS plastic parts are used for side mirrors
– Stickers are included to recreate the multitude of sponsor logos, and No.7 and No.8 car liveries, as well as parts of the red and black livery sections
– The F103GT chassis employs a double-deck FRP frame (lower: 2.5mm, upper: 1.5mm)
– Utilises front kingpin coil sprung suspension and a rear rigid type setup with FRP T-bar and friction damper
– 10-spoke gun metal colour wheels are paired with super slick tires.
– Includes 540-Size brushed motor.
– Requires: 2-channel radio, steering servo, ESC, 7.2-7.4volt battery with compatible charger, and Tamiya PS polycarbonate paint to complete
