South East GT12 regional Rd2 – Report Posted: 27 Nov 2018 06:25 AM PST The South East GT12 Regional series recently continued at the Eastbourne Electric Car Club with round 2. The drivers were treated to a fast and technical layout and again a slightly smaller track was chosen. These smaller tracks are providing some great racing. A great entry of 27 GT12, six LMP and one heat of MTC as a support classes saw a total entry of 39 drivers. As the racing got underway the early pace setters were a fast and consistent Owen Smith in GT12, followed by Niall Cochran and Tim Hancock. After four rounds of qualifying Owen came out on top by five seconds from Niall, 3rd was Tim and Gavin Clinch completing the top 4. In LMP Ben Vincent made the trip down from East Anglia to give David Spashett some competition. After the four rounds of close qualifying David would take pole from Ben, 3rd was Matt Baker and Chris House completing the top 4. Owen Smith showed great pace in LMP also, unfortunately couldn’t quite string a qualifying run would line up 5th. The A-final, Owen Smith would lead the race from start to finish as he had been all day fast and consistent! Niall would follow closely initially for the first few laps until a mistake would drop him back, a strong recovery would still mean Niall finished 2nd, Tim Hancock completing the podium in 3rd. The LMP final David would lead the pack off, with Ben following closely. Ben would take the lead on lap 15. A great race followed for the remainder of the race, David having a little extra pace but unable to get past the tight lines driven by Ben. Owen Smith completed the podium. Oliver Krähemann wins at SIC Rd1 Posted: 27 Nov 2018 05:11 AM PST The opening round of the Swiss Indoor Championship was held as part of the FAMA expo in Bulle near Freiburg. Almost 70 drivers signed in for the 2-day event and in Touring Modified it was Oliver Krähemann (Xray) with the win from Carl Friedrich Gössel (Infinity) on the 2 spot. Philipp Huber (Team Magic) came in 3rd and in front of Renato Isler and Marco Balmer (both Team Magic). Yokomo Racing Performer 500mm balance charge cables Posted: 27 Nov 2018 05:02 AM PST Yokomo have introduced their new Racing Performer series 500mm balance charge cables. Pre-soldered with 4mm or 4mm/5mm bullet-type battery connectors the cables are 500mm long, made of 12AWG wire and thy are of an all-black appearance beside the polarity indicating shrink wrap on the positive and negative poles. The balance harnesses fit Yokomo’s own line of chargers as well as many other devices. Zero Tribe BD9 carbon fibre option parts Posted: 27 Nov 2018 03:57 AM PST Zero Tribe from Japan are currently developing new carbon fibre option parts for the all-new Yokomo BD9 touring car. First up are updated front and rear shock towers whose design allows to use the shock absorbers with increased overall length, making it easier to use aftermarket shock springs and achieve proper ride height settings with these. Also under development is a narrow design top deck that carries over Zero Tribe’s T4 design for optimised chassis flex characteristics. Ronald Völker wins at Charity Race Posted: 27 Nov 2018 03:20 AM PST The 2018 edition of the annual Charity Race was held in Scandiano, Italy this past weekend. In the Touring Modified class it was Yokomo’s Ronald Völker with a clean sweep after the qualifiers to take the overall TQ from Infinity’s Marc Rheinard. With wins in A1 and A2 Ronald then also secured the overall win from A3 winner Marc in 2nd as Xray’s Alessio Menicucci rounded out the top 3 results. SkyRC Toro Beast V2 1/5th scale BL controller Posted: 27 Nov 2018 02:32 AM PST Coming from SkyRC is their new Toro Beast V2 brushless speed controller for 1/5th scale applications. The 4S to 8S LiPo-compatible ESC offers a 6V/7.4V BEC system with up to 15A of output current and it is highly programmable using an optional programming box or PC interface. Other features include data logging of parameters such as voltage, amp draw, motor RPM and controller temperature. The controller is rated at 200A constant and 800A peak current, making it usable with motors of up to 1100kV. Neil Cragg wins Deerdale off-road race Posted: 27 Nov 2018 02:21 AM PST The Deerdale club in the UK held a friendship race last weekend and it was Team Associated’s Neil Cragg with the win in the 15-minute Nitro Buggy A-main event. Neil’s AE teammate Lewis Jones would end the day on the 2 spot, some 26 seconds behind Cragg as Dave Bailey would round out the all-AE top 3 a lap down. T-Works MBX8/7 wing positioning spacers Posted: 27 Nov 2018 01:19 AM PST T-Works have introduced two sets of wing positioning spacers for the Mugen MBX8 and MBX7 kits. Made of high-quality 7075-T6 aluminium and coming black anodised the washers are of a keyed design that slides into the wing’s slotted holes and by choosing the centre or offset washers, the wing can be run in a centre or forward/backwards position. The washers can be used alone or in combination with additional wing buttons.
