British Off-Road Grand Prix 2019 – Report Posted: 14 Jan 2019 08:29 AM PST The British Off-Road Grand Prix 2019 also known as the MK GP was held in Milton Keynes this past weekend. The race is held in the super-sized MK shopping centre, a superb location with approx. 100,000 visitors per day, and organised by the capable Silverstone RCMCC. With 180 plus entries and several of Europe’s very best professional RC racers in attendance the MK GP was always going to be the ‘must-attend’ event for the major manufacturers for the main 1/10th off-road 2WD and 4WD Buggy classes, making it possibly the biggest off-road event taking place in the UK this year. The track looked relatively simple from the side-lines, but clearly as each heat of drivers took to the track the difficulties became clear – getting a smooth, trouble free 5x minute qualifier would be hard to achieve. In 4WD, the pace was insane. Bruno Coelho was just mesmerising to watch in 4WD qualifying, he was clearly fired up for the wheeler class and he absolutely dominated by taking four of the five qualifying rounds as Martin Bayer took the 5th round. The finals looked like it would be difficult for anyone to knock Bruno away from the top spot, and after a few avoidable incidents involving Martin Bayer and Orlowski and the chasing pack – Bruno cruised to relatively easy wins in the first two legs and the 4WD MK GP title. 4WD Buggy top 3 results: In 2WD, from the start Martin Bayer looked settled and smooth and easily the most comfortable of all the drivers – and it was an impressive TQ for Martin over the five rounds of qualifying. Bruno Coelho struggled a little with consistency in 5th place due to an incorrect throttle setting on his speed control. The finals were tight and tense to watch but Martin Bayer was in absolute control and ran three perfect, error-free finals to take the 2WD class. 2WD Buggy top 3 results: Over in the Stadium Truck class it was Yokomo’s Lee Martin with the TQ and win. Nick Cox wins at North West Nitro Series Rd2 Posted: 14 Jan 2019 03:27 AM PST Round 2 of the North West Nitro Series was held at the club’s Mythop Road site near Blackpool this past weekend in pretty windy weather conditions. The original plan was to use the club’s dirt track but given the wind direction and openness of the rostrum it was decided to use the astro track instead. The wind never let off all day but this helped dry the wooden section as the day progressed but in the last qualifying round it rained for 5 mins making things interesting again for all. In the end it was Nick Cox (HB Racing/Team Orion) with the win in the Nitro Buggy A-main from Chris Sharpe Simkiss (SWorkz/SPower) in 2nd. Vincenzo Zuccarelli would round out the top 3 with his Novarossi-powered ride. Louth RCCC Schumacher Winter Series Rd4 – Report Posted: 14 Jan 2019 03:05 AM PST With the Christmas and new year period it was back to racing for round 4 of the Schumacher Winter Series presented by the Louth Radio Control Car Club. An ever increasing field showed up with the numbers reaching 75 a club record. In 13.5 Touring qualifying Chris Lovely would set the pace early on, on a track catching many out when they tended to push. Andrew Green would leave it all till the last round with Ricky Lee 3rd, brother Kyle would line up 4th, with Joe Cocking, Daniel Burks and Nathan Winyard in 7th. In 17.5 Touring Jason Lovely would have his sights set on the top spot and sealing the championship early on. Stewart Mcleod would settle for second and returning Steve Tindall 3rd. Andrew Babb would take 4th, the young Callum Chapman continuing to impress, from Scott West and Brett Gardner on his debut at club. In the Trucks class Tom Hardy would set the early pace, Mitch Fiddling would take a couple of rounds to find his feet. Jason Lovely would be up there again, with Tom in fourth and tamiya truck debuts for James Beckett and Phil Campbell and Mike Mansell. In GT12 Russel Woodhouse would have a right on for top honours from Gary Williamson, then a gap to Paul Vincent, Chris Sleaford, Steve Dye, Dave Fiddling, Sean Cohen and Jerry Booth. In the 13.5 A-final Chris Lovely and Andrew Green would break away right from the start, before a motor move ended Chris’ race early on. Ricky Lee pursues Andrew before making a move and never looking back. The fight to make up the podium was the most intense on track, Kyle Lee looked as if he would take it, then Joe Cocking but Nathan Winyard would triumph coming through from the back of the pack. Jason Lovely would take an early command in the 17.5 A-final and keep a steady lead. Stewart McLeod would break keep tabs but never enough to challenge. Traffic caused Jason an issue mid race and brought the race alive but he was able to withstand pressure and pull the gap. Stewart would hold 2nd, with Steve Tindall holding 3rd, Callum Chapman would jump up to 4th with Andrew Babb, Scott West and Brett Gardner making up the field. The Trucks A-final was the most exciting race to spectate. Mitch Fiddling set the early pace with Tom Hardy giving chase. Tom closed the gap but mistakes dropped him back into a battle with Jason Lovely. As these two fought James Beckett would close the gap and eventually jump Tom for the podium places. Phil Campbell would enter the fray in this race, with Mike Mansell a little distance back. In the GT12 A-main Russ Woodhouse would withstand early pressure from Garry Williamson and take the victory flag to flag. Paul Vincent would hold his solid 3rd ahead of the chasing pack. Thanks to Chris Lovely for the report. The post Louth RCCC Schumacher Winter Series Rd4 – Report appeared first on Red RC - RC Car News. |
