JConcepts introduce new solid axle MT tyres Posted: 06 Feb 2019 07:08 AM PST Coming from JConcepts are the Golden Years and JConcepts Tire, two new thread for solid axle monster trucks. Starting with the Golden Years tyres, the full-cleat tyre just looks so vintage, and JConcepts explored new heights and lug creation techniques to ensure the new tyre had the depth of a champion. The chevron pattern might look run of the mill, however, a lot of work has been placed into the tyre to allow the trucks to grip surfaces ranging from carpet, Astroturf and, of course, dirt. The size of the tyre has been altered to have a 1/10th scale large appearance that make vintage monsters, monsters. The round profile is there too, with included foam inserts and the design built into the carcass, the truck can have the bubbly look of the 1980’s. Sidewall lettering is very detailed on the Golden Years, allowing drivers to travel back in time, shine them up and display for the fans. The Golden Years are available in soft, blue compound and indoor racing, gold compound. The items are supplied with open cell, large profile inserts to cushion those hard landings and fill-up the carcass. The JConcepts Tire is a newly inspired all-out racing tyre for the RC monster truck community. In racing, the ultimate compromise is weight and the new JConcepts Tire is lightweight with its continuous carcass, pre-cut tread height and low-profile footing, making it very predictable in a freestyle run. The JConcepts Tires are available in soft, blue compound, indoor gold compound and include low-profile open cell inserts to cushion hits landings and sidewall deflection. Gassauer & Janssen win at Dutch EP On-road Nats Posted: 06 Feb 2019 05:58 AM PST The Dutch Electric On-road Indoor Nationals were held at the Racing Arena Limburg track in Sittard last weekend. The weekend saw practice on Saturday and racing on Sunday, the latter being divided into free practice, triple qualifiers and double finals. The Touring Modified class suffered from a shockingly low turnout on drivers, however ETS A-main finisher Patrick Gassauer, current Dutch modified champion Rick Van den Akker, former Belgian champion Steve Lambrechts, as well as “Party Animal” Florian Joos would still make for a very high level of driving. Q1 of the Modified class went to Patrick with Florian in 2nd position. Steve won the battle for P3 from Rick in 4th. Q2 went quite well for Florian as he managed to win this round. For Q3 team Joos decided to change the car setup and Florian was on a TQ run, but when a car crashed on the track, the marshall blocked his view and Florian clipped a kerb. This meant he had to start the Modified finals in P2, behind Patrick and in front of Steve and Rick. A1 was a super close fight between Patrick and Florian. During the first 12 laps both were separated by about 0.3s between each other. Florian eventually managed to pass Patrick, but Joos made a stupid mistake the lap afterwards, which handed the lead to Patrick again. The field finished in that order with Steve winning the fight for P3 from Rick. After another setup adjustment to gain more corner speed, Florian had to be on his toes to challenge Patrick. The latter was driving a great race, so Florian’s only possibility was to pass him at the corner entry at the last chicane. Joos ran super close and tried a die or fly pass, but he clipped the corner and Patrick deservedly won the race. Florian had to settle for 2nd and in front of Rick van den Asker. In the Stock class, multiple Dutch Stock champion Rob Janssen took the TQ in front of Florian Joos, who suffered some electronic issues in the qualifiers. ETS A-main finisher Sebastian Meiborg came in 3rd. During the opening final Florian was able to chase Rob for the lead and both opened a gap on Sebastian. As it is virtually impossible to pass cleanly on the racetrack, Florian decided to stay as close to Rob as possible in order to push him into an error. Instead Joos hit a corner marker in the chicane, which put my car on its roof and allowed Sebastian to get by. Florian managed to pass Sebastian for P2 again, but Rob was gone and he took a deserved victory. A2 was a copy of A1, but Florian chased Rob’s rear end for almost the entire race. Florian tried to creep closer but hit a dot again so he had to settle for P2 overall. Behind the two, Sebastian would round out the podium. Essex Carpet Clash Rd2 – Report Posted: 06 Feb 2019 04:37 AM PST After the huge success of the first round at the end of December the Essex Carpet Clash returned to Hornchurch, Essex, for round 2 of what’s proving to be a very popular new off road series, with yet again a full entry for 4WD and 2WD. After listening to the drivers feed back from the previous round, a few small changes were made to both the pitting and more importantly the track. Additional jumps were added for this round and strategically positioned to give a fun and more driver-friendly track. The addition of a cross over jump proved a real favourite with the racers and looked great for the spectators. There was a slight change in the race format for this round giving the drivers even more value for money. Practice, four round by round qualifying runs and three finals for all. Ed Kerry was on form in 4WD and took the pole position with three fastest times out of the four rounds. Pushing him all the way was Kevin Brunsden and Jon Hazelwood which rounded out the top 3. Steven Biscoe and Stuart Joyce were also proving two quick drivers both taking 2nd places finishes in rounds so a great set of finals were on the cards. The top 5 places in 2WD were exceptionally close being split by three points, with the top 3 all joint on two points all taking round wins throughout the day, so it came down to the fastest times to decide the top 3 who were, in 1st place and taking pole Paul Crompton, followed by Kyle Moon and Ellis Stafford. Leg 1 of the 4WD finals was a flag to flag win for Ed with Kevin keeping in touch for the whole race, Mark Lewis had a great drive from 5th on the grid holding off Jody Howard to pick up 3rd place. Leg 2 and this time it was Kevin who got the better run to take the win. 2nd was Jon and 3rd Ed, this being one of the closest finals seen all day with the three drivers split by two seconds. Leg 3 and Ed got the job done being six seconds up the road from Mark and Jon taking 3rd. A great set of finals for Mark who was joint on points for 3rd place overall with Jon so picked up a fine 4th place. Leg 1 of 2WD and Kyle Moon had a great start to the three-legged finals picking up the 1st win with a huge eight second lead over 2nd place William Venables. Paul Crompton picked up 3rd and showed his pace as he didn’t cross the finish line. Leg 2 and another dominant win for Kyle but this time William was always there ready to take the win with the two separated by a few seconds. Joe Howson had a great run and picked up 3rd place. Leg 3 and a clean sweep for Kyle making it three from three to come out on top as the overall winner but was pushed all the way by Paul both less than a second apart crossing the finish line both in front of William. 4th place overall Ellis Stafford and 5th place overall Joe Howson were joint on points showing how close the days racing had been. Round 3 of the Essex Carpet Clash will be held on the 17th of February.
