Mike Lewis takes NitroXCross Summer Series Rd2 win Posted: 08 Apr 2019 08:03 AM PDT The second round of the NitroXCross Summer Series was once again held at the Brookthorpe track in the UK. When the dust had settled the winner was Team Associated’s Mike Lewis with veteran racer, Graham Alsop (HB Racing) coming on the runner-up spot. Vasilis Lykaris wins at Greek 200mm opener Posted: 08 Apr 2019 07:41 AM PDT The opening round of the Greek 1/10th scale nitro championship was held at the Fanatix Racing Track in Athens. After five rounds of qualifying, Vasilis Lykaris managed to grab the pole position for the main final but he would crash in the warm-up laps and asked for some extra time which dropped him back to 13th position on the starting grid. On the opening lap Lykaris jumped into 4th position behind Papachristos, followed by Lekkas (5th), Karabelas (6th) and Kostas Sidiropoulos on the 7th spot. Some ten minutes before the finish of the race Sidiropoulos faced an engine failure and lost any chance for a good result. Up front Karabelas did a great race and though he ran two finals, his car still was running perfectly till the end of the A-main, finishing 2nd while Vasilis Lykaris brought his car home on the top of the podium, having a perfect start for the season after 3 consecutive championships. Posted: 08 Apr 2019 06:05 AM PDT Round 4 of CTS4 was held at the beautiful Valkaria RC Raceway in Grant Valkaria, Florida this past weekend. The weather was in the high 80’s and the track was enhanced with raised curbing for better racing experience on the former ROAR Nationals circuit. Located next to an airport and surrounded by a pond gives the atmosphere a very pleasant attraction site. In the Modified division Mike Gee (Awesomatix) showed the way during practice turning the fastest lap and secured TQ honors after Q1. Sitting out Q2 it was Dave Vera (Awesomatix) who showed the way over Corey Parsons finishing a couple of seconds behind Gee’s finishing time. Vera would then win Q3 closer to his original time but fell short of the TQ position. In A1, Mike Gee leads the race and after a few laps in, he clips the left side chicane and gets on his lid allowing Vera to get by with Lex Tyler (Xray) in pursuit. Tyler would close the gap behind very but ran out of time with A1 win going to Vera. In A2 it was Gee who took the win over Vera in 2nd with Parsons in 3rd completing his fastest overall finish in 24 laps. It came down to A3 with the title up for grabs between Mike and Dave. As the tone started the two drivers went toe to toe turn by turn. With a minute into the race, the two collided allowing Tyler to sneak by. As Tyler led the race the Xray driver managed to block Vera for a good amount of A3. Eventually Gee would catch back up in 3rd. Knowing Vera’s car was faster, Tyler let’s both Awesomatix drivers by to let them have it again. Next lap Gee’s speed controller shuts down allowing Dave to take the overall Modified TC Title, with Lex Tyler in 2nd and Mike Gee in the 3rd. In 17.5 Touring it was local racer Monti Panzica with TQ Honors in qualifying. The Awesomatix driver would set the pace in Q1 and hold it until the mains. A1 Monti had led the race until he clips a corner allowing Jarrett Parsons to get by. Not falling off by too much the two made a little contact on the last lap with Tyler hoping for a crash but the leaders would finish strong with Parsons winning A1. A2 Monti led the entire race tone to tone. In A3 it was Monti who came out victorious with Jarrett in 2nd and Tyler in 3rd overall. In the USGT division the youngster Jarrett Parsons who take TQ honors and overall win against Dave Franklin in 2nd while Scott Meeks in 3rd displaying a great performance. In Formula it was Corey Parsons who took TQ Honors and worked to earn his title with Bruce Michaels taking the win in A1 making things interesting. In A2 Parsons would get a cleaner start and lead the entire run taking A2. In A3 again it was Corey who led the entire race tone to tone clinching the title for Formula with Bruce Michaels in 2nd and Izzy Santiago in 3rd. Kilic & Nelson win at Anglühen race Posted: 08 Apr 2019 05:27 AM PDT The German NitroManiacs club hosted their Anglühen season warm-up race this past weekend. The event was held in Nitro Buggy and Nitro Truggy classes and in the Buggy class it was the Agama duo of Burak and Berkan Kilic who would hold the top 2 positions after the qualifiers. The two would then also battle it out in the 30-minute main final, crossing the line only 1.1 seconds apart. Mugen’s Carsten Keller, sitting in 3rd place after the qualifiers, would round out the top 3 results. Over in the Truggy class it was Sascha Nelson with the overall TQ and he would also bring home the win in the half hour long A-main event. Sascha Häßner came in 2nd, some two laps down as Ingo Wanning completed the top 3 another lap down. Dani Choi wins at Kyosho Masters Korea Posted: 08 Apr 2019 03:15 AM PDT The Kyosho Master Korea were held at Banwol Raceway in Ansan, South Korea over the weekend. Kyosho’s Dani Choi would walk away with the win in the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class, leaving behind Kyosho’s Hwang Sunyoung who suffered engine issues at times, in 2nd place. Capricorn C8SR height adjustable front hubs Posted: 08 Apr 2019 03:02 AM PDT Capricorn have introduced a new height adjustable front hub set for their C8SR 1/8th stock on-road kit. The system allows to access 0mm, 0.75mm and 1.5mm ride height settings that help to fine-tune ground clearance when the front tyre diameter changes. The set includes new front hubs, machined hub inserts, ball races as well as four 0.75mm ride height shims that will be sandwiched between the upper and lower arms and the pivot ball mounts. Andrew Knapp wins at U.S. Buggy Championship Posted: 08 Apr 2019 02:44 AM PDT Trackside Hobbies and Raceway of Brookfield, Wisconsin, held the U.S. Buggy Championship this past weekend. The event attracted nearly 190 entries and in the 13.5T Wheeler class it was Andrew Knapp with the overall TQ. In the single 10-minute A-main event it was again Andrew who would be in control of things, taking the win some two laps in front of Kyle Holberg and Matt Wilbert. Mark Smith, coming from the 9 spot on the grid, would snatch the 4th place overall from P8 qualifier, Blair Tischaefer. Chassis Focus – Viljami Kutvonen Posted: 07 Apr 2019 06:48 AM PDT Chassis – Mugen MTC1 Remarks – Viljami Kutvonen is running the 2019 Performance Kit on his Mugen MTC1 here in Madrid. The car features aluminium c-hubs which makes the car more precise and consistent on all different tracks and conditions. A new linkage mounted along the centre line of the car, combined with a new top deck give the car more more flexibility only along the x-axis, the result being that it is easier to drive while more precise.
