RDRP B6.1 black +5mm 7075 aluminium chassis Posted: 16 Apr 2019 07:29 AM PDT Revolution Design Racing Products have introduced their new +5mm 7075 aluminium chassis for the ultra-popular Team Associated B6.1 2WD buggy. The main plate adds 5mm of length for an easier to drive car especially in high-bite track conditions such as carpet and astro turf, allowing to pull faster single laps while offering greater consistency over the whole run at the same time. In addition the chassis will also improve handling on bumpy surfaces where the main plate will ensure improved stability. The chassis is machined from aircraft-grade 7075-T6 aluminium for strength and optimised flex characteristics while the black anodised surface ensures high durability and factory looks. Machined silver edge details and laser-etched RDRP logos make the part stand out. The main plate fits the B6.1 and B6.1D kits and is usable with most “under servo” and “under electronics” weight kits.

2018/19 VRS-Micro Touring & Truck Series – Report Posted: 16 Apr 2019 03:36 AM PDT The 2018/19 VRS-Micro Touring and Truck Series, held from October to April at the Vestfold RC Senter in south east Norway, recently concluded with the final round. The series sees the running of 1/28th scale Stock, Truck and Mod classes on ETS-style carpet using RC Atomic and GL-Racing 4WD cars. 13-years old up and coming Olav Frostad Dahle has been the boy to beat this year, since he won both Stock and Modified class last season. In the end he was at the front of both Stock and Mod classes, ultimately taking both titles. But it wasn’t without a stronger competition this year. Behind Olav, it has been a very hard battle in Stock the hole season between Tommy Dahle, Torbjørn Jørgensen, Eskil Røvik, Tommy Lønn, and Håvard Gulliksen. Another young and very talented driver is 13-years old Eskil Røvik who had his breakthrough this season and showed a very strong pace in the second part of the season. But in the end it was Tommy Dahle with the overall runner-up spot from Torbjørn Jørgensen in 3rd place. Modified top overall results: Stock overall results: New for the season was the Truck class that was run with the same chassis, only front wheel drive and 3500kV stock motors. Right from the start of the season it was clear that the fight for the top spot would be between Tommy Lønn and Olav Frostad Dahle. Tommy Lønn however was too strong in this class, and so the total victory was already secured before the final round. When the dust had settled, Karl Fossheim took the 3rd place in the Truck class. Truck overall results: Thanks to Torbjørn Jørgensen for the report. The post 2018/19 VRS-Micro Touring & Truck Series – Report appeared first on Red RC - RC Car News. |

Scottish GT Regionals Rd4 – Report Posted: 16 Apr 2019 12:44 AM PDT The fourth and final round of the 2019 BRCA Scottish GT Regional’s took place last weekend at Lothian Radio Control Car Club. The club has invested heavily this year with a new carpet and track markers giving the racers the best possible race experience. A fast flowing track was laid out and with a grip line established early on a great days racing was had by all. Qualifying would see this year’s Champion John Simpson take control and he was the only person to record 35 laps. The next three cars just missed the 35 laps and were split by three tenths of a second. James Eaves claiming the 2nd place spot from Kenneth Rogers in 3rd and Andrew Edwards 4th. The battle for the final places in the A-final had been close all day with David Bruce lining up 5th and Fraser Leslie claiming the last spot with a great final qualifying run. Finals were run over three legs with two legs counting. In leg one the first four cars formed a train and were racing hard covered by two seconds for the whole race with the gaps ebbing and flowing as each driver tried to attack and then had to defend. John led the train home with James 2nd and a slight touch of a corner on the penultimate lap by Kenneth allowed Andrew through into 3rd. In leg two James had found some extra pace and made a pass on John and kept the lead to take the second leg from John. Kenneth would keep 3rd place this time with Andrew 4th. It was all to play for in the final leg and James and John raced away at the front. Contact between Kenneth and Andrew would drop them back down the field. It would all come down to the final lap with James and John swapping places three times before James claimed the win by the smallest margin at the line. That would give James the overall win with John in 2nd and Andrew 3rd. The battle for 5th and 6th was equally hard fought with David and Fraser racing hard taking a leg each before a win in the final leg would decide the positions in Fraser’s favour. Final results: With the conclusion of the series it was time to present the trophies to the series champions. John Simpson would claim the overall title winning the championship for the second time. Congratulations John, 2019 Scottish GT12 Regional Champion. James Eaves would finish 2nd in the championship and Kenneth Rogers 3rd. The junior championship was won for the third successive year by Reece Duthie. Source: BRCA [brca.org] The post Scottish GT Regionals Rd4 – Report appeared first on Red RC - RC Car News. |
Posted: 16 Apr 2019 12:02 AM PDT This past weekend Northwest Hobbies in Albany, Oregon played host to round 2 of the 2019 JConcepts National Carpet and Turf Series also known as the Northwest Carpet Nationals. The 2019 NW Carpet Nationals layout was very challenging. The track flow was super fast and required a lot of low-speed steering as the angles and turns were really tight, but yet needed balance because of the full length straight and high-speed sweeper that required confident steering and stability. Getting the car setup right was the key to lap speed, but keep in mind the faster you go the harder it is to maintain consistency which led into an internal battle of pushing too hard and going too slow. In 2WD Modified Buggy it was a flawless performance by one of the industry’s brightest young stars as Team Associated’s Broc Champlin scored his 1st major victory on carpet at round 2 of the NCTS. After round 1, Broc was searching for a bit of redemption and with a dominant win in A1 and A2 here at round 2 in 2WD Modified, Broc is starting to emerge as a true competitor on the world scale. Team Yokomo’s Ryan Cavalieri finished 2nd, but is starting to gel better with his new gear and inching closer to his winning ways. AE’s Dustin Evans finally got his car to his liking on main day and found great speed and finished 3rd on the podium. Undefeated in 4WD Modified Buggy this year in 2019, Team Yokomo’s Ryan Maifield came from 2nd on the grid to score another win. While leading in A2, AE’s Broc Champlin, unfortunately, suffered a mechanical on the 2nd to last lap that allowed Maifield to get by and win A2 along with the overall. Champlin finished 2nd with Dustin Evans earning the most improved award as he found more speed on main day to finish 3rd overall. In 40+ 2WD Modified the King of 40+, Brent Thielke, marked his return with an exclamation as the AE Team Manager cruised himself to a comfortable victory in the 40+ 2wd class. Thomas Tran was able to recover after a lap 1 incident that shuffled him back to last place. One of the fastest NW 40+ guys around, Phil Vitale found himself 3rd overall and on the podium. In 13.5 4WD Modified it was Matthew Gonzales, Alesio Coffaro, and Josh McCall stealing the show much like in 17.5 2WD buggy class. However, displaying his growing confidence and speed, Matthew was able to lock up the overall with brilliant driving in A1 and A2. The NW talent, Alesio Coffaro, finished 2nd with McCall taking home the 3rd place trophy. Taking his 1st ever victory at a major JConcepts event, Casey Vitale makes good in the highly contested 13.5 Stadium Truck class defending his home turf. It was a close battle between two prominent Northwest drivers, Kody Knudtson and Casey Vitale during the extended single 8 minute main, Vitale edged out Kody in the closing minutes and took home the overall. Knudtson built up his pace through the weekend and finished 2nd with young and talented NorCal racer, Joseph Levin taking home 3rd place. Austin Hansen was dialed in the 13.5 SCT blessed with polished driving and a fast truck. Hansen was able to TQ and take home the overall while James Halladey found the 2nd spot on the podium and Tom Tanner 3rd overall. Special thanks to Tom for making the trip from Michigan to once again partake in round 2 of the NCTS. It was a true test for Matthew Gonzales in the 17.5 Expert 2WD class as Dallas, Oregon’s Alessio Coffaro was able to win A2 and push it to a champion’s decider race in A3. However, Matty G rose to the occasion delivering a near flawless run to take home the overall. Alesio impressed many as he finished 2nd and finally, Josh McCall landed himself 3rd on the podium to complete an ultra-fast top 3. With a nearly sold-out show of 30 drivers in the 21.5 Indy class, the no-sponsor, spec tire, and hand out motor class has been a huge hit for new drivers coming into the hobby and for hobbyist racers who can’t make it to the track often. Out front was an all-out battle between Kelsey Miyoshi and Marshall Patten that included multiple lead changes, but in the end, it was Patten holding on for a clutch win as Miyoshi finished 2nd and rounding out the top 3 was Josh Blagg. Congrats to the Independent drivers for coming out and participating in this year’s NW Carpet Nationals. Thanks to the Novice group of racers that were in attendance at round 2 of the JConcepts NCTS. They all drove awesome and had smiles after each race. Jake Dotter crossed the line first to take the win with Corey Ware coming home 2nd and Jimmy Smith finding that last spot on the podium.
