Plus, how do you spell success? P-A-R-A-D-E
By Chad Calder | Staff writer REDEVELOPING JEFFERSON: We've got a look at two projects on each side of the river in Jefferson Parish, one is Las Vegas-based gaming software company's ambitious bid to bring a $450 million development to the Lakefront area of Kenner, while the state and parish work to save some century-old buildings at Hope Haven in Marrero. EDWARDS LAID TO REST: The casket of four-term Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards, who died last week at 93, was brought by carriage across downtown Baton Rouge to the Old State Capitol for a private funeral service Sunday. ENROLLMENT UP: Some New Orleans-area colleges and universities are bucking a national trend of declining enrollment, which higher-education leaders say is due to tuition freezes and scholarships. IN OTHER NEWS: Some folks think the out-of-towners have gotten a little too rowdy in Slidell, a Pearl River company's product pitch makes the cut with Walmart and a local spelling bee champ gets a parade. All this and much more are in today’s Front Page and on NOLA.com. Thanks for starting your day with us. CC |
