Many physician practices, including independent practices, physician practice groups, and freestanding clinics owned by facilities, lack a Medicare subject matter expert who is able to review and audit claims to ensure accuracy and compliance. This course will take participants through the entire audit process, from learning about what coding and billing elements will be reported through how to interpret and respond to audits.
 

In addition to providing a foundation of coverage, this class will encourage continued self-research. By learning about the latest regulations and coverage, physician offices will reduce vulnerability to Medicare contractor audits, no matter the type (e.g., UPIC, SMRC, RAC/RA). The boot camp will take a look at coding and billing issues that require a completely different approach than in hospitals—including modifiers, E/M reporting, and value-based payment programs.
