The Plain Dealer The Virtual Learning Academy Charter School in New Hampshire gets no money simply because a student enrolls in the school. Unlike Ohio, New Hampshire pays the school only when kids make progress in their classes. If students enroll, do no work and make no progress, the Virtual Learning Academy is paid nothing. Lancaster Online Six refugees filed a class action lawsuit against the School District of Lancaster, alleging that the school district regularly refuses to admit older immigrant and refugee students, or assigns them to an "inferior" alternative school with insufficient support for overcoming language barriers. More than 200 school systems initially ignored his requests for information. Now, the superintendents of those districts are being ordered by the Secretary of State’s Office to undergo training on how to respond to public records requests.
