USDA is out with its new ag export forecast for both this year and next, and it's showing exports could hit $173.5 billion in 2021, $4 billion more than 2020, due to higher livestock, poultry and dairy exports.
When the government placed a bull’s-eye on 2.2 acres of Nick Smith’s cropland, the farmer was pulled into a bureaucratic rabbit hole and lost all farm program dollars, but emerged 10 years later to tell the tale.
“If you look at a chart, we're going sideways really in all these grains,” says Jerry Gulke, president of the Gulke Group. “Markets are kind of like magnets. When it goes too high it snaps back and then if it goes too low it will snap back.”
The award recognizes farmers 35 and under who represent the next generation of esteemed farm leaders. Entrants are judged on entrepreneurial originality (50%), financial and business progress (30%) and leadership (20%). Apply by Sept. 1.
