Kaya! The days getting shorter and the nights are much cooler as we approach the middle of Djeran. The Djeran season is represented by the color green -  the time of the year where the cooler weather begins.
Community planting events are not far off with over 80.000 seedlings to go into the ground this winter – a big year for revegetation in the corridor.

A success story!

During this one-day Community Science Conference, speakers from all walks of ecological restoration, natural resource management and environmental education came together and shared their real-life experiences and knowledge with over 100 attendees, giving people a chance to learn, connect and build community.

Craig from CAM graphics volunteered on the day to capture the essence of many of the presentations, as well as the panel discussion via live drawings, which are now also available on the website. Thank you Craig!

Thank you also to panel members Kate Sputore (Perth NRM), Associate Professor Rachel Standish (Murdoch University), Oral McGuire (Gundi Consulting), Amy Krupa (SERCUL) and Karen Clarke (DBCA), who made for a great discussion at the end of the day, as well as to everyone who commented via Mentimeter.

Thank you also to SERCUL, Perth NRM and DBCA for their support in organising this wonderful event.

The speaker bios and abstracts will remain on our websiteand we will be uploading videos of the presentations very shortly, so you can (re)-watch and share individual presentations.

Path Network Plan
The Rehabilitating Roe 8 project vision incorporates the need for a connected path network across the corridor to enable people to come and enjoy the space.  One of the challenges of developing a path network is knowing where paths can be sustainably created so that they provide good access but take into account environmental impacts.

An external consultant was engaged to hold a workshop with members of the Rehabilitating Roe 8 Advisory Committee, where the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the individual sections of the corridor were discussed. As a result, an online community survey was developed to gauge what types and locations of paths the community would like to see in the corridor. Over 130 people completed the survey and had their say on the Path Network Plan. Thank you to all participants!

The consultant is currently developing a draft concept plan which will be presented to the committee in the near future. Stay tuned for more updates.
Community Questionnaire Invitation

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

The Rehabilitating Roe 8 project invites community feedback on the rehabilitation and community engagement activities being undertaken in the corridor.  This is your chance to answer a brief questionnaire and provide feedback on community participation, what you want to see in the corridor and how you feel you've been a part of it.  Also our chance to see what we need to improve.

Plant of the month

Beard Heath - Styphelia racemulosa

Our plant of the month is out in flower at the moment.  It's name comes from the bearding of hairs on the petals looking like a fringe and is more recently known as Styphelia racemulosa (formerly Leucopogon racemulosus). Fun fact!  Did you know that these beautiful flowers are buzz-pollinated by native bees?
