| | | | | | Kaya! We are in Djeran, the season of adulthood. The weather is cooling and rainfall is on the way (we all hope!). Some of you may have noticed that the pine stumps on the corner of Hope Road and Progress Drive have been felled. This was a sad event, but the community's strong support for their removal shows that it is time to move on and bring the corridor to life. The pine logs have been left on site and their habitat value is clear, with fungi sprouting, lizards and invertebrates active and Djiti djitis foraging on them. The Rehabilitating Roe 8 community survey is open until May 1. Please fill it in if you have a few minutes, it is much shorter than previous years. There is a $1,000 prize up for grabs if you are a member of a Friends group! Follow this link. | | Every two years the Rehabilitating Roe 8 project holds an Open Day and in the past the Cockburn Community Wildlife Corridor have held a gathering to talk about what's going on in the corridor. This year we are combining the two events! Come and hear from traditional custodians, Friends groups and local volunteers. Have a yarn, learn from each other and celebrate your achievements. May 25, 3-5pm. |

Acacia iteaphylla starts to flower now, which makes it easy to spot. This nasty woody weed can spread rapidly via seeds and out compete locals. If you see one in the corridor or your bushland let someone know (or remove it!) before seed set. | | Find out more >> |
