Hi Friends!

It's 20% Off Coupon Time at REI! On top of that, some of our all-time favorite REI brand gear is on discount for members. Get the deets on the sale and check out our favorite deals in our latest blog post: 50 Ways to Save Big at REI's Member Moment Sale.

Here at CleverHiker, we’re getting very excited for warmer weather and more daylight. The vernal equinox - aka the first day of spring - is coming up on Monday, March 20 for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. That means we’ll finally start having more daylight than darkness each day! More sunshine means more hiking, and we can all get down with that.

We’re also stoked for one of our team members to start her Arizona Trail thru-hike next week! CleverHiker Senior Gear Analyst, Casey Handley, is getting the final details dialed in for her 800-mile journey. She’s taking a boatload of new gear for testing and will be posting updates on the CleverHiker Instagram feed.

As always, thanks for following, and make sure to hit us up on social media.

To sweeten the deal, from March 17 to March 27 REI Members save 20% on one full-price item and an extra 20% off one REI Outlet item with coupon code MEMBER23. Now is one of the best times of the year to save on a big-ticket purchase such as a tent, sleeping bag, backpack, sleeping pad, or anything else with some sticker-shock pricing.

GEAR PICK OF THE WEEK

Do yourself a favor and pick up a portable pillow to use on all your trips this year. Whether you're car camping, backpacking, or traveling, a pillow will make a huge difference in the quality of your sleep. Your body will thank you!

The new REI Trailmade Pillow is an excellent and super affordable option. The foam filling is a lot comfier than an air pillow, and we love that you get to choose between the cozy fleece or the cool polyester side depending on the conditions.

We might opt for an even lighter and smaller option like the ZPacks Medium-Plus Dry Bag Pillow on long, challenging backcountry trips. But the Trailmade only weighs 5.25 oz., so it's totally backpacking-worthy if comfort is a priority.

See how the Trailmade Pillow compares on our list of the Best Camping & Backpacking Pillows.
