Signature Stakeholder Event |
|
|
In late November, Relationship Matters was privileged to host the ‘Evolving Best Practices in Perpetrator Interventions’ event at the Visy Cares Hub in Sunshine. This landmark gathering brought together over 100 stakeholders, policymakers, and advocates committed to addressing family violence through collaboration and innovation.
The event featured a distinguished panel of experts, including Tim Richardson MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Men's Behaviour Change and Mental Health Prevention, who provided invaluable insights into current challenges and opportunities for improvement. Discussions centred on ending men’s violence by fostering innovation and strengthening partnerships, with a particular focus on the unique needs of Aboriginal, CALD, and LGBTIQ+ communities.
A heartfelt Welcome to Country was delivered by proud Wurundjeri woman Julie Coombes, setting a meaningful tone for the day. Panellists Aunty Ivy Yarram, Rasha Abbas, Guy Penna, Anthony Lekkas, and Daniel Dowd contributed thought-provoking perspectives that enriched the dialogue. Tarang Chawla, Victorian Multicultural Commissioner and Co-Founder of Not One More Niki closed the event with a powerful summary and an impassioned call to action, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees.
Our CEO, Maya Avdibegovic, extended her gratitude to all participants, emphasising the importance of shared responsibility and collaboration in creating safer, more inclusive communities. The event underscored the critical need for tailored Men's Behaviour Change Programs and related interventions that address the specific needs of diverse groups.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this event and to those who continue to champion this important work. Together, we can drive meaningful change and build a future free from violence.
A special thank you goes to the dedicated staff whose hard work made this event possible. Your commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive community is truly appreciated. |
