NEW CEO ANNOUNCEMENT

Relationship Matters is delighted to announce that Maya Avdibegovic has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer for the organisation. A highly experienced senior leader and CEO, Maya succeeds Janet Jukes who has recently moved into a new role. Maya assumed her new responsibilities on 22 November 2022.

Maya brings to Relationship Matters extraordinary experience as a dynamic and respected senior leader and CEO, most recently as Court Networks Executive Director. She was previously the CEO of InTouch, during which time she achieved significant growth and public recognition for the organisation.

Maya is an influential and decisive leader who has achieved exceptional successes, strong and robust relationships with government and community sectors, and a high level of personal commitment, professionalism, and integrity.

Relationship Matters is excited to have welcomed Maya to our team and we look forward to continuing our strong tradition of supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community through her leadership.

New Office Premises at Caulfield

Relationship Matters moved to new premises in Caulfield. We look forward to strengthening our services in the southeastern suburbs and surrounding communities.

75 year Anniversary Celebration and AGM

View this quick video showcasing our rich history of 75 years of strengthening relationships in Victoria. Relationship Matters was established in 1947.
We had the pleasure of it being presented by Reverend Jim Pilmer PSM OAM OStJ and our Chair James McCarthy on 30 November 2022.

Family Dispute Resolution

We are very excited to have a new mediator join our team as our Senior Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. Nhi Tran has been a Family Law Mediator/FDRP since 2001 and has a wide breadth of mediation experience. As well as assisting separating couples resolves issues around parenting and property matters, Nhi has experience in mediating with other families in conflict, including parents and their adolescent children and where there is conflict in the workplace. Nhi is also fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and Vietnamese and is able to mediate in those languages.

Nhi says that she still enjoys supporting clients to resolve their issues and especially enjoys it when they reach agreements and leave the session with a smile.

Relationship Learning

Highlights

Relationship Matters ran over 50 Parenting After Separation programs, supporting over 300 clients navigating separation and parenting. Over 500 clients were supported via a range of Relationship Learning programs, with the most popular being Tuning in to Teens, Tuning in to Kids, Sea Change Anger Management for Women, and Parenting After Separation. 95% of Parenting After Separation participants said they would recommend the program to others.

As the year draws to an end, so do a number of our relationship learning programs. However, we have a number of programs starting in the new year, including Tuning in to Teens, Tuning in to Kids, and Sea Change Anger Management or Women. Our Parenting After Separation and Prepare Enrich programs will continue to run through the holiday season.

Men's Behaviour Change (MBCP)

Gazetting of the 7 new Specialist Family Violence Courts (SFVC) across Victoria. This adds to the previous 5, making a total of 12 SFVC. This is important because, The new SFVCs feature remote hearing facilities, more staff, improved processes and list management to provide a better and more specialised response to Family violence. Importantly, they strengthen our multi-disciplinary response within local communities.

They are in: Melbourne, Broadmeadows, Dandenong, Geelong, Latrobe Valley, Ringwood and Sunshine. Work is also underway for a SFVC in Wyndham in 2023. That will mean a total of 4 in the West DFFH region, where RM’s MBCP funding sits.

This will be further enhanced by the opening of two Orange Doors in Wyndham (Late 2022) and Brimbank-Melton (October 2022) as referral and information sharing points.

8 of the 9 MBCPs that Relationship Matters have running concurrently are based in the DFFH West region.
