The year was 2011. A white man with a red goatee, baggy jeans and a BYU beanie raps an ode to the big man on campus: Jimmer Fredette. The song became a stone-cold classic among BYU basketball fans overnight.

At the time, Fredette was the star of the BYU basketball team, and although the jokes are now “cringe” and the fashions are out of style, Meg Walter can’t help but feel deep nostalgia for the time. She spoke with Fredette and reminisced about the golden age of Jimmermania.

Fed threads the needle on inflation vs. banking volatility, bumps interest rate .25%

The U.S. Federal Reserve Board met this week to consider further adjustments to its lending rate in the midst of rising inflation and the failure of Silicon Valley Bank among others.

How’s the economy? By the numbers:

• The Mountain West region continues to see the highest inflation rates at 6% — down .4% from January.
• The Labor Department released a report saying employers added 311,000 jobs in February.
• Unemployment is at 3.6%, which is up .2% since January.
