Click here Thursday, 12 May 2022 ** VIRTUAL EVENT ** WHO and STOP Launch a New Report and Host a Discussion on the Tobacco Industry’s Tactics to Distract from Environmental Damage The World Health Organization and STOP will publish a new report and co-host an online event on Thursday, May 12, 2022. Experts from Africa, Asia, and Europe will discuss the environmental damage caused by tobacco companies, how they cover it up and how they can be held accountable. Panelists will explore major sources of pollution including cigarette butts, the most common source of single-use plastic pollution on Earth, and the new threat posed by electronic products. The event is a precursor to World No Tobacco Day on May 31. The theme this year is the environmental impact of tobacco – another reason to quit or never start using tobacco.
