Dear Reader, You are cordially invited to join MEF Director Gregg Roman for a series of exclusive in-person briefings in Miami, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach. His latest articles have generated important conversations on various critical issues facing U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East, and these events offer a unique opportunity to engage with his insights firsthand. Are you in Florida? We hope to see you there! On Syria: Addressing the recent overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria by the Islamist group Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), Mr. Roman argues against a rapid U.S. withdrawal from Syria, citing potential chaos similar to the Afghanistan exit, and emphasizes the strategic importance of maintaining a presence to prevent the resurgence of extremist groups. On Israel-Hamas War: In light of the just-announced ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas after 15 months of fighting, Mr. Roman writes that while the deal is deeply and inherently flawed, it provides a unique opportunity to shift focus to Tehran and free the region from the clutches of the Islamic Republic. He also spells out exactly what it means when President Trump says that Hamas will have "hell to pay," by advocating for stringent economic sanctions on countries supporting Hamas to secure the release of American hostages, drawing parallels to past successful U.S. interventions like the release of Pastor Andrew Brunson from Turkey. On Iranian Regime: Recently, Mr. Roman has outlined a Comprehensive Strategy for Democratic Transition in Iran, in which he defines a multi-faceted approach for encouraging democratic change in Iran, including economic sanctions, support for internal opposition, and regional cooperation to dismantle Iran's proxy networks. If you are in Florida, we encourage you to attend these events to hear Roman’s perspectives firsthand and participate in discussions that could help shape future policy and deepen understanding of the Middle East and its impact on the U.S. If you are not in Florida, we will be hosting additional briefings in the coming months across various cities, and we’d love to see you at one of them. Please RSVP for the event closest to you by clicking the links below, or by contacting events@meforum.org. We look forward to seeing you there!
