The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have created a number of new, self-paced educational videos that are now available on YouTube (Go.cms.gov/QPPvideos) and the agency’s Events page. These videos help to explain aspects of the Quality Payment Program in approximately 10 minutes or less. The agency believes stakeholders will greatly benefit from this form of on-demand learning that allows them to choose their educational pace.

Congress reintroduces bill to count observation stays as three-day prerequisite for SNF coverage

 

Congress has reintroduced a bill that would ensure patients receiving hospital care under “observation status” could count that time as part of the three-day inpatient hospital stay required to receive skilled nursing care coverage under Medicare. The Improving Access to Medicare Coverage Act of 2017 (HR 1421) mirrors a similar bill introduced in 2015.

Error identified in Hospice Quality Report Calculations

 

Hospice are urged to re-run reports after CMS announced that an issue was identified and corrected with the Hospice-Level Quality Measure Report and the Hospice Patient Stay-Level Quality Measure Report. These reports are available in CASPER.
