Update on Virtual Conferences

The Virtual London UX Conference worked really well. Of course, we'll do some iterative design before the Virtual New York UX Conference, but the basic format will remain the same. (See some tweets with attendees' experience during last week's virtual conference.) Attendees rated the course content 0.01 lower (on a 1-7 scale) than the feedback scores we received at the last in-person London conference, but that's honestly within the margin of error, and since the content was the same (adapted in format, not content), it makes sense that the feedback score should be about the same. The audience score for gained skill or knowledge was up by 0.07 (again on a 1-7 scale), though this improvement also doesn't reach p<.05. We will need more data before concluding that people learn more in the virtual format, but there certainly are fewer distractions when locked up at home.

Unfortunately, the Raleigh conference has had to be canceled. Registered attendees will be offered a transfer to either the Virtual New York Conference or to our next virtual conference, which will be announced on April 27, after we have made further adjustments based on additional experience from the NYC conference. (Registered attendees will be contacted directly by email with more info. If you don't receive this email, please contact the address given in your confirmation message.) It is likely that San Francisco and Amsterdam will also go virtual, and possible that Sydney will do the same.

More info on the Virtual UX Conferences, including updates as they are announced.
