Reopening plans approved for 14 S.C. school districts

S.C. Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman has now approved reopening plans for every public school district in the state. Richland School District Two was among the schools to have plans approved Monday.

Silgan Containers expanding Lancaster County operations 

The $9.7 million investment is expected to create 16 jobs during the next five years. The company makes metal containers for shelf-stable food and general product lines.

The Spinx Co. enters the food truck business by bringing the Cluk Truk to life. The mobile kitchen will serve a menu centered around the fried chicken items served at most of the Greenville-based retail chain’s convenience stores.

Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal still on track for opening

The first phase of the Port of Charleston's newest terminal is set to open in March. Once the first phase is complete, the 286-acre project will add 700,000 TEUs of annual throughput capacity to South Carolina's port system. 

World Acceptance Corp. pays $21.7M for alleged bribes

Greenville-based World Acceptance Corp. agreed last week to pay $21.7 million to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, neither admitting nor denying that the company’s former subsidiary violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
