Report puts Lafayette area in bottom 5 of all U.S. metros

The Lafayette metro slid closer to the bottom, along with others in Louisiana, in an annual report that evaluates the performances of hundreds of metro areas across the country.

The Best-Performing Cities report, released by the nonpartisan Milken Institute, dropped the Lafayette area 10 places from its 2023 ranking. It was in the bottom 10 for wage growth over a five-year span ending in 2022, high-tech gross domestic product over that same span and high-tech growth in 2021-2022.
