Dear Friend,

Every day our team sets out to produce reporting that matters to you. This fall, I’m proud to say the examples are easy to find. Reporter Kathleen Phalen Thomaselli’s coverage led to a Nazi packing up and leaving the state. When the Lewiston mass shooting shocked the nation our passionate journalists diligently, courageously and compassionately dug for the facts to help you understand the tragedy. That included breaking the news of Robert Card’s death, revealing one cop’s criticism of the manhunt, and asking probing questions about a law designed to prevent such shootings.

I'll donate to support that work!

Given rising costs everywhere, Mainers are interested in how to save money on heating this year, and this story from Billy Kobin explains the complication for many looking to get a heat pump rebate. Two weeks later, Efficiency Maine, the state agency that grants rebates, announced that it had removed the requirement that older heating systems be disconnected or disabled.

Mainers are lucky to have such driven journalists working hard for them.

And we can’t do it without you. Will you help us raise $100,000 to sustain this work by Dec. 31?

Yes! I'll donate today

Your support will help protect our ability to deliver journalism with real impact for Maine for the year ahead.

I hope you'll consider a donation today.

With thanks,

Dan MacLeod
Managing Editor
