Dear friends, supporters and subscribers ofRes Artis...
At Res Artis we feel deeply proud of all we have achieved in 2022!
We are writing to share with you some of our greatest achievements from the last 12 months and to wish you and the ones you hold dear a happy and safe end to the year.
To help us improve in 2023, please consider completing this 1 minute audience survey to help shape the future of Res Artis! The survey can be completed by anyone: artists, residency hosts, curators, experts from the field, those with an interest in the arts, and even those without an interest in the arts!
In 2022 we have grown to+600 Membersin 80 countries around the globe! Our achievements would not be possible without our Members and the artists they support. Our Members range from large institutions to tiny grass-roots collectives. It is because of these individuals and organisations that we are able to operate and act as a leading advocacy body for the arts residency field.
Over the past year with a tiny staff base of only 3 part-time employees located in our global headquarters in Australia and a voluntary Board of Company Directors, we have been able to achieve great things...
We welcomed a newBoard of Company Directors, hailing from diverse corners of the globe: Marnie Badham (Australia / Canada) as Secretary, Marie Fol (Brussels / France), Gordon Knox (United States) and Oyindamola Fakeye (Nigeria / United Kingdom). The creation of our new Board marks the final stages of our move, transitioning from our original home in the Netherlands to our global headquarters in Melbourne, Australia. They join Daniel Marro (Australia) who was appointed to the Board as Treasurer in 2021.
We would like to sincerely thank outgoing Secretary, Sophie Travers (Australia) and Chair, Lea O’Loughlin (United Kingdom) who were integral founding Board Members for Res Artis Limited. Their support, hard work and dedication has been crucial in the establishment of this new Board, the transfer of our global headquarters and the ongoing development of Res Artis as the peak body of the global arts residency field.
In early 2023 our Board will be establishing a new Strategic Plan, with a focus on creating a new position for a First Nations person. We will be planning to build dynamic and accessible opportunities for the arts residency sector in the coming years! We can't wait to share our goals and findings with you...
We have felt heartened by our Member's efforts in offeringEmergency Residenciesfor Ukrainian artists and cultural workers in need and have worked to establish a new section of our website to promote opportunities and resources.
As always, we are committed to ensuring the global arts residency sector is sustainable, transparent, professional and diverse. We look forward to connecting with you in 2023!
With warmth, Eliza Dawson, Res Artis Executive Director
