Although it’s been a while now, I’ve been very fortunate to regularly attend the Nurburgring 24 Hours and, each time I did, I was so impressed when I watched Sabine Schmitz in action.
Having grown up in the town of Nurburg itself, it was no surprise that she built an amazing racing career at ‘The Ring’. She truly came to worldwide prominence via the Top Gear show, where her bubbling personality shone through as brightly as her impressive driving skills around the world’s most fearsome racetrack.
To be robbed of all of that by cancer at the age of 51 is truly tragic. Godspeed Sabine, I’m sure you’ve inspired so many to try to be just like you. |
