After two decades of fits and starts, Europe appears to be finally on the verge of developing a multinational, medium-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aircraft system.

The final hurdle to contract signature was passed when German lawmakers approved $3.7 billion for the country’s share in development of the four-nation medium-altitude, long-endurance remotely piloted air system (MALE RPAS) program, often also called Eurodrone or EuroMALE.
