Good morning, happy Saturday, and welcome to the latest edition of the Saints Insider newsletter. The Saints and their faithful are going to do their best to make sure this weekend isn't for the Birds. Let's get into a jam-packed weekend edition, shall we? Who Dat hysteriaIt wasn't that long ago that the 2024 Saints were viewed as a boring, irrelevant team around the league — and, depending on who you talked to, within the city itself. Three straight seasons with no playoff appearances will do that. How quickly the tables have turned. The Saints have been one of the best stories in the NFL through two weeks, and as columnist Jeff Duncan notes, the fan base is absolutely eating it up. In Duncan's words, "the Superdome will be in rare form this weekend. New Orleans has been waiting for a game like this. The Saints have had to manage the hype and hoopla all week. On Sunday, the noise will be the Eagles' problem." As someone who covers these games for a living, I say bring it on. Hype, manIs there anybody more popular in New Orleans than Klint Kubiak right now? The Saints new offensive coordinator has pushed all the right buttons through his first two games, calling plays for an offense that is leading the NFL in scoring and a lot of other things. Just don't expect Kubiak to buy into his own stock. I loved this column from Rod Walker, who spoke to the Saints players about the coach that has quickly elevated expectations. And I particularly loved this quote from backup QB Jake Haener about the hype. “He doesn’t give a s--- about that,” said Saints backup quarterback Jake Haener. “He’s so focused on just putting a great game plan together and not listening to the noise and not caring about the noise, because one second they love you and the next they can hate you.” In the news 🗞️ Taysom Hill is officially questionable against the Eagles, one of five Saints players with that designation. Marshon Lattimore, meanwhile, will definitely play. He wanted to go last week against the Cowboys, but he said Friday the team made the right call. Our staff made its predictions for the Saints' Week 3 game against the Eagles. Is it a good thing that we're all feeling these Saints vibes? Our crew also broke down the game in detail on the latest edition of the Saints Insider Podcast. That's all we've got! Thanks for following along, we'll see you out there Sunday for what should be a good game. Cheers, Luke Johnson |
