Hello again, New Orleans food fans! This week, we ring in the holiday season with Ian McNulty's roundup of Reveillon menus. After a difficult summer, Seafood Sally's will close. Take a look at two new restaurants, and check in with shuttered ones to see what's next. Hoagies come to town. And our po-boy poll continues: Vote here for your favorite. Finally, whip up Liz Williams' homemade eggnog for a festive party. 1. Reveillon revival? The old Reveillon tradition, once celebrated after Christmas Mass in the city's Creole homes, has taken new root in restaurants. This year, nearly 50 local establishments are offering the special festive menus that mark the season. 2. Oak Street farewell. After a costly kitchen renovation and a slow summer, a plumbing issue was the last straw for Seafood Sally's. The Oak Street restaurant will close this weekend. 3. Wait! There's more. There's a new "loungerie" downtown and a Venezuelan place opening Uptown. See what's next for Upperline, Willie Mae's and more favorites, closed since the pandemic. A Tulane grad is opening a Philly-style sandwich shop. And it's time to vote in Nola.com's po-boy bracket. 4. Spirits of the season. Fresh eggnog is a holiday treat, with or without a splash of bourbon. Here's Liz Williams' sweet and easy eggnog recipe. In New Orleans, the food news never stops.
