By Drew Broach | Deputy metro editor LYING IN WAIT: New Orleans police arrested the father of a slain Edna Karr High School student Friday, alleging he took justice into his own hands by stalking and killing the man accused of murdering his son and stepdaughter. They say it's the latest example of how violence in New Orleans can beget more violence, keeping the city's murder rate perennially high.
HISTORICALLY BAD: The EF3 tornado that tore through Gretna, Arabi and New Orleans East on Tuesday evening was the strongest to hit the city and its inner suburbs since accurate records have been kept, the National Weather Service confirmed Friday.
NOT SO FAST: As the Biden administration tries to increase the United States’ liquefied natural gas exports to Europe, amid Russia’s war with Ukraine, Louisiana oil and gas authorities on Friday repeated a familiar refrain: Don’t expect the state’s export totals to shoot through the roof anytime soon. Lengthy construction timelines, maxed-out capacities, regulatory pressures and opposition from environmental advocates could prevent a short-term gain for Louisiana.
