PDGM implementation leads to home health therapy cuts

Home health agencies across the country are grappling with a significant change in how Medicare pays for services, reported HealthLeaders Media. To qualify for services under the new system, a person must be homebound and in need of intermittent skilled care (less than eight hours a day) from nurses or therapists.

On February 20, the World Health Organization announced a new emergency ICD-10 code for the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19). ICD-10 code U07.1 (COVID-19 acute respiratory disease) can be reported on death certificates in the U.S. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also released new ICD-10-CM guidance for reporting respiratory illnesses as consequences of COVID-19.
