CDI salaries on the rise, gap between clinical and coding credentialed professionals closing

Most CDI specialists are earning $80,000–$89,999, followed closely by those who made $90,000–$99,999, according to the 2019 CDI Survey released this week. In previous years, the largest bracket has been those who earn $70,000-$79,999 annually.

How does a coder assign a code for a disease that still needs to be ruled out? In the uncertain diagnosis section of the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, it states that if the diagnosis is documented at the time of discharge as “probable,” “likely,” “questionable,” etc., code the condition as if it exists.
