As a reminder to any providers billing Medicare for immunosuppressive drugs, CMS issued a third set of guidance recently to clarify when to append modifier -KX (requirements specified in the medical policy have been met) to a claim. The Office of Inspector General recently determined that pharmacies did not comply with parts of this policy on a significant percentage of claims, indicating there will be further scrutiny on this modifer.
