Medicare cut payments to 2,583 hospitals in the newest round of readmission penalties. Approximately 83% of the 3,129 general hospitals evaluated in the Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program received a penalty.
2020 IPPS final rule updates MS-DRG assignments for musculoskeletal diseases

The 2020 IPPS final rule introduced several MS-DRG changes within Major Diagnostic Category 8. The changes, which are effective October 1, could affect reimbursement for certain orthopedic infections, neuromuscular scoliosis, secondary scoliosis, and kyphosis.
