Chronicle REPORT:
Vulnerable Students
Creating the Covid-Era Safety Net

Many colleges were finally making gains in serving disadvantaged students — those who are low-income, first-generation, or single parents, for instance — and getting them to the finish line. That was before the pandemic hit, devastating both family and college budgets. Students who were planning to transfer from a two-year to four-year school may now need additional support and guidance in order to make the move.

The Chronicle's "Vulnerable Students" examines how the pandemic has altered the pathways in which students move into and through higher education, and offers strategies for what your institution can do to retain and support its students.
