| | | Edition 47 | 2024 | | Dear John Do, | | City centres throughout Germany are in a state of flux. Online shopping is booming, and established retailers are disappearing, and even big department stores are closing their doors. Hamburg's city centre is not immune to this change, says Dr Katja Wolframm, Head of Property and Urban Development at Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft. The question is how to shape change and revive the city centre. The answer may lie in the Future Fashion Lab (Fabric) in downtown Hamburg. In our latest Future Hamburg Talk, Wolframm reveals what it's all about and why Hamburg is attractive to creatives.
In other news, quantum computing is going practical after the German Aerospace Centre opened its Hamburg Innovation Centre; sustainable mobility is giving companies in the metropolitan region a competitive advantage and the EVE42 robot is now scanning trailers in the Port of Lübeck.
